Rough hunt man! I Had the same tag in the same unit that same year. It was disheartening and only saw 9 Cows outside the park fence line as well. Couple of great dinners at Big E in Tusayan though 😁

My dad always said that a porcupine was the only wild animal that he would kill without giving it a second thought. I built a shed recently out of pressure treated lumber and plywood sheathing. Within a week the damn things were chewing holes in the walls in order to get the saltiness of the chemicals in the siding. I'm going to have to live trap and then drown it.

Nice catch! However, the salmon shown at 10:37 and 17:21 are not silver salmon. They are both pink salmon. Take note of the large oval spots on the tail. That's a sure sign that they are pink salmon, not silver salmon.

I just finished it. MTD XRS chassis, Area 419 Compensator, RAZOR HD GEN III 6-36X56 FFP borrowed off my 338 Lapua rifle until backordered scope shows up. Its shooting 1 MOA at 1000 yards. Off the shelf its just OK. But with some upgrades it works way better.

Lot of Preference Points for a young bull. Guessing you had a couple trips to the area prior to this?

Nope it was a leftover tag so didn’t burn any points. First time ever to the unit, 1 day and done.

So you don't waste so much ammo. Go to 50 yards pull bolt out and look threw the barrel, place target directly in middle of barrel and then look threw the scope and move the scope accordingly. It's called bore sighting. Should be some videos on KZbin showing how.

In my mind vermints are non-native invasive animals. Starlings, Eurasian collared dove, Chinese pheasant, feral Hogs, feral goats Etc... here in Montana the porcupine is in severe decline. Over the last 50 years wild populations of animals have decreased by 1/2. Pretty alarming if you think about it deeply.

@ would you include beavers in that category as well? Beavers are the most important animal to north American wildlife! This is because they expand riparian areas, that means wetlands, etc.. riparian areas produce the most wildlife. This wildlife includes ungulates, that means, deer , moose and elk, etc.. all the predators species do better as well. Beaver have also created some of our most fertile agricultural fields as well. Water bird such as ducks and geese thrive only one abundant water is available. Whether you know it or not, your life is richer because of rodents. Yes ,they can be a nuisance, but so can mothers and wives! but they are well worth putting up with for all the benefits!
