Funny how you and i have a lot in common about the riding part, i presently own a 2023 Africa Twin Adventure Sport DCT, nice overall bike, but on long haul the seat is extremely uncomfortable and i don't want to play the game by experimenting with different seat option, i called a BMW dealer near me and i test drove a R1250GSA, oh what a surprise, i just could not believe it, it felt like i was riding on clouds, what a bike, i got home and put the bike for sale. Nice review. Cheers

Nice! I definitely like the Africa Twin, my buddy has a 22 with DCT.. But for the long haul, nothing beats a GS.. If you're offroad guy, I will say the telelever takes some getting used too

Yeah there's quite a bit for licensed vehicles.. There's an OHV ride area too, but it's packed with SXSs on the weekends

@carado1984 LBL is fun.. No single track but the jeep trails we showed in this video are all over.. A lot of them dead end but it's still fun.. Lots of manicured forest roads

The 11 and 12 Enduro batteries last a long time.. Keeping them on the helmet has been the issue.. Brent lost two new 12s already 😒

Lol! Yeah.. That was my first experience with that Tele lever suspension just kind of skipping off of stuff.. It's less unnerving once you get used to it

Only bike I’ve ever ridden where I knew immediately that I wanted one. Had an Africa Twin at the time, which I loved, then had a CRF250 because I thought I wanted to do some off-road. Didn’t get on with that and then a great finance deal appeared so I pressed the button. Didn’t regret it, to the extent I’ve just signed up for one of the last of the 1250 gsa’s. I’ve ridden the 1300, but it didn’t do anything for me, felt very different.

Be aware that using aheadlight gaurd which blocks the light output can be avoided by using a clear lens protector.

I’ve got a 2020 same colour as yours. I’ve added cool covers for the seats. Also make sure your riders seat is level if that makes sense.

It does make sense because the seat is canted forward a bit.. It's especially noticeable after a few hours of seat time.. Ill have to look into some covers

I have not looked through all the comments, but I would highly recommend the Zumo XT2 for navigation it is fantastic. Will beat your phone and BMW by miles.

The ol Skyway... Rode it on bike, trike, and Slingshot.. Once in fog and misty rain. Didn't care for that much.. lol.. A lot of great riding in the mountains.. 👍

Just flashed my ECU with Brentune, the bike is completely different, mucvh better and quicker and waaaaaaaaay more fun in all aspects of riding, with a titanium exhaust, bike is mental, can easily outrun any stock r1250 all day and possibly the new 1300 easily. Got the same bike actually

They're Nelson Riggs Pannier bags.. Pretty decent for the price, about $200.. Unfortunately at that price they aren't quick release or very fancy and the fabric areas have faded a little after a year.. But they're waterproof and spacious

Yeah I agree, the GS is much better on long trips but I really liked the Africa Twin.. Had it for a year and put 20k miles on it.. The best bikes are the ones you just don't want to get off of..

I bought it unbranded off ebay.. It's made for the GS, two replacement bolts in the rear rack.. My wife doesn't love it, it's angled just a little forward.. But there's not many alternatives out there aside from a Corbin.. Ive had Corbin seats before and wasn't super impressed for the hefty price tag

New Albany here. Have a HD Roadglide thinking about going with the GS because of the weight. Did you get yours at Louisville BMW?

Yes, from Louisville.. Not a bad buying experience but they can't actually tell you much about the GS and they didn't have a test ride unit.. I bought this one based on research and reputation.. It's been a good bike.. About 13,500 miles on it now and my only complaint is that it isn't great off road.. On road it's fantastic but obviously much different than a road glide..

I test rode one on the weekend and got myself in debt… I haven’t done that in years! The combination of ride, engine and comfort is second to none in the ADV market. You’d hope so. BMW created the market😋

Thanks for checking this out! I see quite a few of them in Kentucky. The European bikes in general are really getting popular. I guess folks are realizing that there's more to life than rumbling poor performing V-twins!

Have the same bike (2023 R1250 GSA Rallye) and agree with almost all your pros/cons but, I have never banged by feet or shins on the cylinder heads. I'm acutely aware that they're there, and just avoid them. I also very quickly got over the (largely) psychological fear of its size. Once it starts rolling, the size/weight magically disappears.

Nice!!! On the road the weight doesn't bother me at all.. Really the only time I notice now is it really rocky hills... Ive got 12k miles on it now so some of cons have disappeared with familiarity... The first few thousand miles I was comparing it too much to the Africa Twin I had right before this one... It's light years ahead of the AT in a lot of ways, especially on the road

Chad just saw this video. I'm struggling between the BMW GSA and Ducati Multistrada Rally as you know big swing in cost...I could buy a beta enduro and the BMW GSA for the cost of the Ducati. I'm gonna have to check this place out, thanks. You guys ever do the middle section of Little Shepherd's Trail? We got a few miles in and met up with some quad riders that warned us going further on a GS, that it would get too rough to pass... coming from 421 side twd Kingdom Come.

No never heard of it.. The Sheltowee Trace are up by McKee is pretty fun tho.. 421 will take you right up there.. I believe it's part of the KAT but it's good area for a GS if it's not too wet..

I live near the Little Shepherd Trail, we try to run it each year on the KLR. It is a beautiful ride.
