Thank you, my Aguacaté friend! Check back for another taste test coming up in a week or two. I’m going to go back and pick some from the tree and wait until they are really ripe to do a comparison test. Take care, my friend in the 831.

I think both need more time on the tree. Like February harvest for Second Red when the tree is mature and February-March for Fuerte
@jenny_avocado5 күн бұрын
@@reallygoodplants that’s good to know for both SR and Fuerte. It’s interesting regarding the SR fruits I found as they were on the ground, as if they had fallen themselves. But now I wonder if they fell from critters crawling in the tree. I will go back to the tree in a couple of weeks with a fruit tree pole picker to pick ones still hanging at that time and wait for them to ripen on the counter.

That is veneer graft 👏. Excellent graft, I could tell. Jenny, if you’re using paraffin tape, you do not need to remove the tape. Leave the tape on, it will disintegrate in time.

Yes, thanks, Betty! I mention the correct technique later in the video when my brain decided to start working again.😂 Single bud veneer, as I learned from Carlos de la Torre in his video. I include the link in the description. Good eye, Betty!

Very interesting. What do you think caused the flavors to be so light? And what do you think caused the scaring?
@jenny_avocado19 күн бұрын
My guess is they are both a bit underripe, and could use a few more days to develop flavor. But it could also be due to the heavy rains we’ve been getting up here in the Napa Valley the previous week, causing the fruit to swell and skin to crack, also diluting the flavor.

Hi Jenny, your zone is 9b and you're protecting your trees ? Your videos looking good. I am new to youtube and shooting video. I joined youtube last year. But have to stop because I lost my helper. It took awhile to train my new helper. Now I have two new full-time helper helping me with the yard works. I just restarting my video a month ago. I am new at this. I am in Southern California pickup more trees and shooting videos at my favorite nursery plus getting my fix on Asian food 😂😂😋Will have videos of my new fruit trees.

Hi Betty. Yes, everyone protects their young citrus up here, as we are on the chilly valley floor, and the frost barrels down the mountains and lingers on our trees more so than the hills and mountains. @garygragg of Golden Gate Palms talks a lot about this phenomenon of cold air travel in his videos. Sounds like you are having an exciting day picking out new fruit trees in SoCal. That’s one of my favorite things to do other than planting them. LOL. My husband laughs and says at least it’s better than having a Birkin addiction. Fruit trees are my addiction. But I have no more space until I buy another property.😂 Have fun and looking forward to seeing your next video. With two new helpers, I guess we can expect a lot more video content to come! I’m teasing you, but since your videos are so good, I hope it’s true. Roy just finished up with his wine shipments, so he will be able to help me with my video making a bit. Yay. 😅

@@jenny_avocado I am running out of closet space at the house 😆 Now I am focusing on fruit trees. It is much cheaper than clothing, shoes or handbags 🤣🤣😂 I watch lot of his videos. Gary was the one that say it you could grow citrus, avocado, bougainvillea you could grow mangos. That is why I am planting mangos on the ranch. If I am able to get mango to grow in Paso Robles. He would like to tour the ranch 😄Ellen Baker of Epicenter Nursery wanted to tour our ranch two years ago. But the timing wasn't good at the time. I am waiting for my fruit trees to be more developed with fruits before giving invited tour.

@@Betty599oh yes, Ellen and Freddy would love that. I visited them earlier this summer and they gave me a tour of their garden there. That was fun. Wish I filmed it, but I was having too much fun just being present and listening to them talk about all of their avocados. If you do decide to set up a tour with them, let me know. I’ll try to drive down and attend, as well. They will no doubt have a wealth of great information to share when they come. They’re also very nice people.

What do you do with all those avocados
@jenny_avocado2 ай бұрын
@@champagnegardening5182 we won’t get that many for a couple years, at least. At this point, it’s early in the game. So far, I’ve gotten no fruit from my FrankenBacon Avo tree, as it was planted early last year. But I have had two crops from the Mexicola, however, both harvests were small. Five little fruits the first time and 17 small fruits this past Fall. The newly planted Avo trees are way too young to set fruit, so it will be 1-3 years to wait for them to grow strong root growth first, then we can focus on fruit production.
