Another great episode Dan. The entire league is jealous of the Caps for being able to acquire two top 6 centers for practically nothing. PLD was in his early 20’s and based on some of his tattoos I’d say he wasn’t fully mature. So adding in playing for some bad teams and not being quite good enough for WPG who had been a contender for a few years now,I totally understand why a youngish player could struggle. Still you had a young guy with size who can really skate available and that’s rare. To exchange that for a goalie that’s clearly not better than the two guys we have making league min…saaaavy stuff.

I am the only one I know who loved the move for PLD from day 1. We got rid of Kuemper who was nothing but a big smile and money paid for nothing (or less than nothing). So saving that Kuemper money and giving it to PLD instead the PLD salary is actually much less than it looks like on paper. I am telling you. If PLD is happy and feels appreciated the sky is the limit for him. As in how many goals and points that will be is hard to predict, but I think there may be an X factor he hasn’t yet found that can get him up there with the allstars of the league.

BUF seems to have the Caps number these past few years. i don't like how the D is struggling at times on the break out, teams have been keeping the Caps hemmed in, heavy forecheck pressuring is bothering them. Forwards need to come back and help out. The team has been a little off, sloppy passing leading to turnovers, giving up too many odd man rushes. Also, Caps need to cut down on the penalties late in the game when it's close. Dowd has been in the box a lot

Why shouldn't Ovi be killing it at age 39? Fantastic athletes do that. Ted Williams hit .388 at age 38. And Ovi has fantastic bloodlines. His mom, Tatyana Ovechkina, won Olympic Gold with the USSR Women's Basketball teams in 1976 and 1980. It's been quiet, but he's been moving up another list. He is currently number 12 for all time NHL points with 1580. Number 11 is Phil Esposito at 1590. If Sidney Crosby stays healthy, I don't think Ovi will catch him at number 10 with 1638 points. However, Ovi does have a chance to catch current number 9 Joe Sakic at 1641 points. At career end, that would put him top ten in goals and points. But enough of this. Just win the cup!! Face coverings would make a ton of sense and I always wondered why they don't require a bubble/cage. Fehervary then lost a tooth at a later game and the commentator was wondering why they aren't wearing mouthpieces. On the bubble/cage, I think it's in the league's best interests for the players to show their face. It's probably in the players' best interests as well bc that helps marketing/branding and endorsements. That said, from a safety perspective, it makes total sense to require the extra safety equipment. I would definitely be upset about losing a tooth or getting cracked in the face with a stick but then, I'm not a hockey player.😅

Miro had four hits and no giveaways. He's more responsible with puck than Vrana and if he starts putting up some points, short of a upgrade via trade, probably gets every opportunity to hold the third line spot rest of the season.

As a Blues fan I watch almost all of their games on tv or go to them what I remember was, there was a between period interview of TJ Oshie and he gave very slight criticism of Blues management saying sometimes what they are trying to get the team to do the ice is confusing. He didn't last another week with the team. TJ played 30 playoff games with the Blues scoring 5 goals, basically he was a ghost. It's not so much of a steal of a trade by the Capitols but rather Blues management basically gave him a way.

If the Capitals are willing to give Ethan Frank a look at the NHL level, Hershey will need Lapierre and Miro IMO. Frank is the only player on the Bears with 10 or more Goals and he has 11 more than Trineyev. They have a defenseman leading the team in Power Play Goals (Chase Priskie) and have lost 3 in a row with only 4 wins in the last 10 games dropping them to 6th in the Conference in Points% despite leading the Division based on GP and total points. No real reason to keep Miro and Lapierre up with the Caps when they are barely playing. Lapierre and Miro need to play and build their confidence while the Bears could use an offensive spark. Could be the right time for Frank to get his drink of water with the Caps, he's earned a shot.
