Amazon is also mainly smaller and lighter parcels which is why they can have everything organised into their bags for the driver

@gullymontero9670 Yes, the van is assigned to you to take care of. Therefore, you're required to take it home. Sorry, I can't answer if cameras are fitted in the van for security reasons.

but if is better to do with your own van, what happens if something needs get fixed on it? cant work for couple of days then? and spending more money on services, oil changes filter tires etc.. is it still better to do with own van?

I have found that using my own vans has always been more effective for me. However, I understand your perspective, and I acknowledge that these situations can arise. Ultimately, this is part of doing business. It’s important to find a solution that works for your operations, or consider employment options where you wouldn’t have to bear these responsibilities.

What time does your average day start and end at? I’m currently a trainee driving instructor but if it doesn’t work out I am considering a DPD driver.

Just a heads up, a typical day is around 8-10 hours. DPD operates on a wave system, with the first wave starting at 5 am, the second at 6 am,and the third at 7 am. Each driver gets a one-hour loading window. Just keep in mind that there might be some delays now and then because of how things go in this business. Hope that clears things up!

@onoh-cosmaschidera9269 In April 2022, I paid £3,000 for a 5-day intensive training course. Prices may vary now, so you could potentially find it cheaper or more expensive, but I can not confirm. Another option is to be employed by a company such as DPD, DHL, Tesco, and more, where you can receive free training. However, this typically comes with a two-year contract obligation. I hope this helps.

DPD currently offers three options for drivers: 1. Owner Driver: £50k-£60k 2. Owner Driver Worker: £27k 3. Employed Drivers: £24k If you opt to be an owner driver with DPD, it can be costly to hire one of their vans. Therefore, in my opinion, it is more cost-effective to lease your own van privately. If you don't have to load your van it will be better to hire yourself in Amazon,if you prefer to stay for a little bit in Warehouse near loading bay hire yourself in DPD.🎉

Amazon drivers also load their vans, similar to DPD drivers. However, UPS may be a preferable option if you prefer not to load your own van. Personally loading your van may make it easier to locate parcels in my experience. Ultimately, the choice between working for either of the two comes down to factors such as their delivery system, working days/time, route, and pay. I trust this information is helpful.

Upon entering the UK market, they established themselves as GeoPost and swiftly acquired Parceline based in the UK and Interlink from Ireland to enhance their presence in the UK and Ireland. Great video! I have worked for amazon in the past and didn't get on with it at all. It out me off multi drop, but how you have explained DPD it seems so much simpler and less stress. Out of interest, how long did this day take you?

Great, you found it helpful. I had 100 stops onboard that day, which took me 4 hours to complete. In theory, any good driver should be able to complete btn 25 to 35 stops/hour at DPD because they operate within the same route/post codes every day, unlike at Amazon. Out of all, DPD has the best route planning system for a startup driver. Thanks for supporting my channel.

@@logistics24 Thanks for the reply. That is exactly the kind of information I was and I'm sure other new drivers will want to know. It's OK seeing a drop count on a job advert but it doesn't translate into working hours, so thanks for that. Out of interest, does dpds system learn in the way amazon's does? What I mean is, as you say you do 100 stops in 4 hours. Dpd are paying for 8/9 hours..surely they will realise you're finishing so quick and over time start increasing the amount of drops? Thanks again

@thebeardedtraveler3055 Yes, DPD may need you to cover your full 8/9 hours based on how busy the day is if you're on a PAYE, but they are still reasonable. I was a subcontractor when I worked for DPD, and all my mates are. I had 9 drivers at the time, and we had a predetermined stop rate( for every successfully delivered stop). Therefore, the more stops we took out, the more money we earned. Drivers were happy taking out more than 150 stops daily. Please understand that finishing time depends on collections on your route. Some routes have collections as late as 5pm, and others don't have any collections at all. This means that it's your responsibility to wait until your last collection time if you have one. Nevertheless, drivers help each other out wherever possible. Remember, every day is different based on other factors, i.e. traffic, rude customers, etc. So you gonna be on top of your emotions to succeed in courier. I hope this helps.

Hi MH9tv, I still do Amazon Class 1, Royal Mail, etc. I can walk into most of the UK's carriers/courier companies and work/make a video because of my long service and loyalty to them no problem. Thanks for supporting my channel.

Absolutely not. All drivers work with Amazon Freight Partners because Amazon doesn't employ drivers directly. Therefore, find a local AFP to onboard you. I hope this helps, and thanks for supporting my channel
