I for one does not understand why you need this fancy "weapon wheel" to begin with. It just makes it more complicated to pick a weapon that you want to use for no reason what so ever. The best way to pick a weapon is how its done both in Quake and in Doom. You have the first weapon on 1. The second weapon on 2 and so on. I can understand that its a gameplay mechanics that you have certain loadouts which is fine in a way, it makes it easier for a noob to play the game and it certainly makes it more console friendly. But, on a computer where you have a hole keyboard, there isn't really a necessity in most cases, specially for just picking a weapon. It breaks the game tempo and its annoying to use the mouse wheel to go through the wepons to get the weapon you want to use. Sure, you can press 1 button for 2 weapon types but thats about it.
