Superb virtuoso. Loved the choir and instrumental accompaniments. Great sound! Takes me back to the early 60s in high school when our Chem teacher would invite us brass players up to his place in the mountains of Bonny Doon near Santa Cruz, CA. He had a large pipe organ in a purpose built "chapel" on his property. This organ had hundreds of pipes, and sounded grand in the chapel. He would have us accompany him on this very piece, Trumpet Voluntary by Purcell. It was an extraordinary experience!

Although the opening credit says “Henry Purcell”, this famous tune was composed by one of his contemporaries “Jeremiah Clarke.”

Never heard such interpretation of the first movement. Brendel’s consistency and balance are so close to a perfect equilibrium here. Orchestra was greatly ordered as well👍

Einfach großartig. Spürbar ein Gebet. Musiker mit Tiefgang und religiösem Einfühlungsvermögen. Dabei so bescheiden. Wie selten. Ganz wunderbar.

Two things that really caught my eye in this performance; 1: OMG MAYNARD IS SWEATING MORE THAN BULLETS. You can see just how drenched in sweat he is through his shirt, and enough to where he had to have a towel on. 2: It's hard to ignore how passionate the Japanese crowd was. Typically European and American crowds (based on just what I've seen) don't clap and jump up and down to this kind of music when they go see it live, but it looks like Japan is an exception. They really appear to be enjoying themselves and having fun.

Am I the only one bugged by the fact that one of those guys is missing the tube for his 4th valve? I understand why one would do that playing Brandenburg, but Vivaldi?
