I just picked up one of these but the power supply is missing. Trying to figure out what I need to get it powered up. It looks like a headphone jack but can’t find anything that looks like that by Lemax.

Halloween Villages, This is a dream setup! The way you've arranged the buildings alternating lighting colors makes it look like a living blacklight poster! It feels like a whole community got together to see who could build the best Halloween house! This is a spectacular display with something fantastic to look at, at every turn! I can't remember if I sent you a message that I had uploaded my Halloween Village video for the year, It's called The Smooching Skeleton Grand Theme Park. If you get a chance, I think you might dig it. I also just recently posted a bonus Halloween Village video of the very first Village I ever put together back in 2007. I never thought I'd share it, because it was filmed at 480p, the most common tech at the time, but today's technology allowed me to up the resolution using a 4K Upscaler and I also used some great stabilization software. I think it turned out pretty good :) I hope you have a VERY Happy Halloween! vgv

My grandmother had this piece from around 2002 or so. Interestingly, it had a warm white light in place of the white-blue (seen in this video) for the "lightning bolt" effect. It also would pick up AM radio stations randomly.

I love your upgrades. Where did you get the color changing bulb?
@barbaraaria3 ай бұрын
I wanted to drill holes in the windows to let interior lights shine out. But I was told not to try it for fear of crashing the whole building! I still think it would look better if all windows were open,
@frye66663 ай бұрын
6 volts.... a multi adapter willl work, and for reasons far beyond me. If that bulb that works as the lightning bulb goes on the fritz...... everything goes. It is an easy unplug and all goes back to normal cept the lightning, but replace that bulb and it all goes to shit again.

This was such a quality piece. Nostalgic, realistic, not cartoony, subtle humor, beautifully lit, just really tastefully done. I hope its wild popularity encourages Lemax to do more like this.

The plastic reminds me of Harry's Toy Factory. I would repaint and age this one like i did the Toy Factory. Id also figure out how to disconnect the rabbit somehow. Then it would be perfect! Hope they do more illusions in the future 🙏

I agree with you that the ghostly effect in the center should be used in a future haunted mansion.
@CassidysWorkshop5 ай бұрын
Great review, thanks. I feel the same about the longevity of it. I like the cool features, the ghosts, the face, and the spinning hypnotic effect. I'd disconnect the rabbit and paint it into zombie rabbit, and maybe ditch the birds. But I also hope they incorporate the ghosts into another better-planned building...like something graveyard related.

Halloween Villages, This piece was the one I was most looking forward to this year, but as you pointed out, the plastic-y construction leaves a bit of a cheap look and feel to it. And I guess I wouldn't be so harsh if this thing didn't retail for 200 DOLLARS! Michaels is out of their EVER LOVING MINDS! This piece should have never been more than $80. I see so many who are reviewing this piece skipping an explanation for one particular illusion, the levitating woman. I get why, but I think it's worth mentioning. When I got the Smoke and Mirrors Magic Shop and saw how it was done, I burst out laughing and thought, "Wow, Lemax actually went there." I never thought they'd do an adult theme like that, but I appreciate it as I do like a dirty joke now and then. Of course, the woman isn't actually levitating and is in fact being held up by... Uh... The magician's... Uh..... Man-Parts. I couldn't tell this from the pictures and videos online, but when I got the piece home and got to take a closer look... Wow! And this is why the soundtrack, though I don't play it much because it's one of the annoying ones, is so important. When the woman realizes how the Magician is pulling off the levitation effect, she starts overly freaking out and it's just PRICELESS! Like you pointed out, the "Ghost Pepper" effect in the middle is the star of the show. Seeing those ghostly figures appear and disappear is the reason I'm SO HAPPY I own this piece. And yes, I did get a Michaels discount (though it was SO MEASLY compared to years prior). Thanks for another great review! vgv

Definitely a spectacularly lit and themed piece. It would be even better with old fashioned movie soundtracks and horror sounds and screams, but I’m also glad they didn’t put in a soundtrack with talking that would’ve ruined it.

Halloween Villages, I loved this piece at first sight, and yes, it looks even better in person. I, like you, have the Mortis Theater, and though the Fright Night Cinema is cool, it's still a long way, for me, from hitting the heights of a Mortis Theater. Still, I'm glad I have the Fright Night Cinema. The posters really did it for me as well. I think they really push this piece over the top and make it easy for me to recommend. I like the pulsating Blob and indoor scene as well, and the sign lighting is fantastic! However... I think Lemax really missed an opportunity to make the Fright Night Cinema stand out among their best. This piece SCREAMS FOR animated parts. The Blob could've used the brain mechanism from last year's Mystery Meat Canning Co. A popcorn machine out front with blowing green popcorn. A slushy machine inside with blood red bubble action. A zoetrope type projection system flashing something animated on the inside screen. So many possibilities. I guess the village development budget was blown this year on the Phantom Castle and Smoke & Mirrors Magic shop. I don't know, but I always wondered what magic Lemax could do if they chose to bring out another movie theater. Though the Fright Night Cinema is still cool, what could've been, leaves me slightly disappointed. Thanks for another great review! vgv

Love the piece - the lighting in incredible. The signs look great. Love those posters like you mentioned. The accessory is not to the same scale as the building, you'd have to have the building set back or on a riser to give it more dimension if you're using the accessory too. Great review.

For the cost of these pieces, they should last much longer than they do. They use cheap plastic gears and crummy electronics that don’t last at all. Nice video though! Thanks for sharing.

If I did amusement parks I would have to get this-damn the potential animation failures! Ha ha. It's just so cool looking. IMHO it has the appropriate creepiness/ghoulish factor, unlike a few of the rides that just look like they're hinting at terror. One item where I think Lemax did the right thing is the Phantom Castle sign. We're used to their clear-film stick-on signs, shiny and flat. They could have done one there but they didn't. It looks pad printed and conforms to the stonework. Kudos on that!

Great review, Landon. It's an interesting building, I agree the theming is a little loose but the ideas there are carried out nicely. But oh, that animation worries me. Those elevator doors are already struggling. I've had to repair so many sliding doors that don't open.
