I just came off a call with Monster Energy's Marketing Manager in Ireland and been into Monster Energy HQ in London 4 times in the last 6 weeks but I am finding it hard to discuss my project 'Drift Across The World' as it is so different to anything else thats ever done and they would need to pass it through so many different people.

Listen to Alex! Before I started my streaming show, Cars and Coffee Exposed in 2023, I paid a lot of attention to Alex and his sponsorship books, videos ect... and he's spot on. As for decks, we hand them out ONLY when we have a contact who we think will actually look at it. The reason being, we are pitching to several different industries (automotive, food, clothing, services) and we have inserts that speak to each industry. It costs money to prepare each deck. Too often a brand marketing manager will say "send me your deck" as a way to brush us off. Therefore a certain amount of vetting goes into each introductory call or meeting before we make the effort to send them a deck. Also keep it short and give it good flow. Make sure you're telling the brand why you're a good fit "for them" and what an association with your team or in our case entertainment show will 'do for them". They all want audience. Prove to them that you can deliver the eyeballs. dh

What you sell is not as important as "Whom" you sell it to. Find the right contact before you pitch.

This is an extremely crucial topic Alex. Thanks for asking the question out loud. I find myself struggling to identify the right time to approach a sponsor - as often early on I would get replies such as "Our calendar/budget for this year is already in motion, Maybe next year?". I am trying to figure out the right time to approach a prospect without budget or calendar as an objection. This is a helpful nugget of insight even if only for Monster Energy. Thanks once again.

A strong sense I got from Fran's words (I can possibly be wrong though) is that "The Rule of One" in Marketing - ONE idea, ONE person, ONE emotion - stands true for sponsorship activation on Social Media too. Another motorsports business educator (Nirupam Singh) whose content I follow, has constantly stressed on "ONE person, ONE problem, ONE solution" mantra for motorsport (& general sports) sponsorship seekers. If my analysis of this video is correct, then I must say it is a very powerful insight! To connect authentically, aligned to Social Media algorithm while not turning our social handles into blatant ad channels, demands extreme focus on the audience. Even if I am incorrect, a very valuable point discussed in this video. Thanks Alex. Appreciate your work.

hope this guy can start bringing in interesting sponsors for Deegan that are known outside of motocross like Nike/Adidas things like that because the ones he has right now are really boring and everyone else already has them in the sport

No we want the truth and real answers. Media training is how to lie!!! We want to get to know the riders!! Such Bs. That’s why reality shows are big

This is great content! Thank you Alex for bringing these conversations to us. As a Sponsorship consultant in an immature sports market in a developing economy (India) - I find that athlete sponsorships are relatively tougher to crack than team/event/league ones. One big reason is lack of clarity from both sides on what will drive sustainable profits in this partnership. Appreciate these videos. Keep 'em coming please!

I only know Kenda for their bicycle tires. They specialize in the cheapest bike tires that could be made. The few times they have made high end bike tires they have been absolutely great. I have had their road and mountain bike tires and have loved their lightweight performance!

GREAT wisdom here! "If you wake up and you're like 'well, this company is a sponsor and I represent them, and they sponsor me and my race car,' if you've got that attitude, it's not gonna go very far." A GREAT perspective!

Can your sponsorship game be “too strong” compared to your racing? Is it possible to have everything on point as far as how you promote your racing organization and how you approach sponsors but only able to race maybe 4-6 times a year in a traveling series?
