How has the 1HD-T held up? and how many miles are on the motor?
@lumpskie4 жыл бұрын
It is holding up great. Have run it for about 75000 miles so far. The engine has about 200,000 on it now.
@hypergarage85954 жыл бұрын
lumpskie good to hear. I’m considering importing a HDJ81 and am curious about the lifespan of the 1HD-T. I know some had rod bearing issues but other than that they seem to be a pretty solid motor.
@lumpskie4 жыл бұрын
@@hypergarage8595 yes sir. Those bearings tended to go bad on the 90 and 91 models. But they are easy to swap out... cheap insurance. I know of at least 2 guys running high boost 1HDTs with roughly 400,000 miles on them. The bottom end is shared with the Yanmar 6lp marine... which runs 30psi stock. Pretty cool engine, if you ask me. All mechanical injection, capable of good power and reliable.
@hypergarage85954 жыл бұрын
lumpskie interesting. I remember hearing something about them still being used as marine engines as well. What kind of regular maintenance do they require? Obviously besides oil/filter changes and the bearings/timing belt etc.
@lumpskie4 жыл бұрын
@@hypergarage8595 yeah... you got it. Oil change, fuel filter, water separator somewhat frequently... timing belt, water pump amd tensioner every 60,000 miles. Some people run a catch can... so empty that. I just vent to atmosphere. No maintenance engine, really.

They learned to no talk when im wheeling. Im there for me to do what i want to do not what some retard friend of mine or stranger wants to do. I pick the line i want and go where i want to put my truck. I have full skid plates and they go see u hit. And i scream thats why i bought skid plates. Then i watch them destroy their pos truck listening to another spotter telling them what to do. If i need help i will ask for a spot or a tow. I have the same snowblower with an old knocking tecumseh and just happen to have predator sitting in the attic and wondered how well it'll fit. It looks like you have the 2 piece hand crank and I have the 1 piece. I don't know that I'll be able to make it fit without some modifications. Did you find any areas of interference?
@lumpskie4 жыл бұрын
There were a few little tweaks that were required. When I removed the old Tecumseh, the engine mounting studs were a little too short for the new engine. So, I knocked them out and used longer bolts with nuts and washers. I also had to bend the chute adjuster bracket a little bit to get it to turn without interference. Another thingI was careful of was installing the pulley, after installing the 3/4" to 1" adapter. I tapped it on and checked its alignment with the other pulleys in the chassis. When it was properly aligned, I tightened the set screw and was good to go! Overall, it was a quick job and I am still happy with the engine.
