Dude these new bands like Jenny Hval, Austra, Julia Holter and Ottilie Wallace are fucking emotionally intelligent!!! Epic Epic Power Goth When I hear more from these gals ...I think of another footprints.....PJ Harvey, Kate Bush, Patti, Tori Amos or Björk. There's this new feminine wave of really emotionally intelligent women singers. The hi-quality pushers at the moment! Maybe some legends? Weyes Blood Clarissa Connelly Hania Rani Taylor Swift (have to include royalty) Lady Gaga Austra Soccer Mommy Crystal Castles Beach House XX Lana Del Ray Cate le Bon John Maus (have to include him because he's a synth jedi master and all these bnew ands really focus on an 80s synth pop influence.

When she gets to the part of, "...while I was having a UTI, I stared into Jeanne's face, suffering in black and white," the drums behind her and the way her voice snakes and weaves in-between them, there's so much cinematic tension in all of that. Like the magic is starting to happen. "The blood color seemed so insanely alive, too alive to be just mine." The way that she wrote all of this, her other potential self or her destiny finding ways to get to her, to get the message through. Jeanne winking at her, the blood evoking this feeling that's so passionate compared to her mundane life that it has to be from someone else, the mysticism in that. This song is like you're on the verge of realizing your life has an entire other half of it ahead you didn't know existed. Just so cool.

this notion of rearrangements of senses and body parts is found throughout her shit (c.f. Cigars; Is There Anything on Me That Doesn't Speak; Amphibious, Androgynous; That Battle Is Over; Sabbath; and probably a lot more I'm not thinking of now!), which seems to be predicated in some sort of hyper-awareness of the condition she finds herself in, i.e., inside of a specific body: a condition we all find ourselves in but probably most are not quite aware of the contingency of our subjective experiences.
