The foundation stitch is useful once youve mastered . Adding the pattern is a separate learning process. Tghe post stitches are advanced crochet stitches. Learning all this plus a sweater pattern is a bit much for most beginner crocheters. The texture is great.

Helpful video. I was especially interested in how you secured your float in the row above the float. I haven’t seen that technique in other videos and I’m going to try it.

Good video. Are you working with bobbins or balls of yarn? I’m working with about 20 color changes on each of my rows and found that bobbins are useless and cumbersome. I cut about 4 yards of each color, and just pull the strands free each time I come to them. (I read about this technique in a Kaffe Fassett article about stranded color work.)

the color change from 2 color square to solid color works best if your rows are an even number. Love this pattern

Sorry but there are multiple pronunciations of this word. Its origins are French and Latin and it was pronounced with an S sound, same as the word “century” and and “circumference” with Latin origin. It was not until mid 20th century that the hard K sound became popular
@wyatt35810
@wyatt35810 13 күн бұрын
I would also like to point out that many major world languages, such as Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Spanish, and Portuguese pronounce it with S sound. Don’t be so pretentious.

Thank you for the free PDF pattern...so nice of you to offer that...can't wait for more patterns 🤗 Do you think this pattern would translate into a queen size afghan? I have been tasked with making my nephew an afghan. His decor is "mid-century" which, I gather to him is 1960's-70's. As I remember the ripple afghans were all the rage...my mother made a couple, I never did...that was my hair pin lace period 🙂. As I am in my 70's this likely will be my last big project...realistically. I would say I am an intermediate level Tunisian crocheter...so, have mastered most stitches. I think the drape is very nice on your shawl...I could achieve that by using a larger needle size with my #4 weight yarn. I would value your opinion on this. Thank you🤗
@exquisitecrochetuk
@exquisitecrochetuk Ай бұрын
My pleasure! Transforming the pattern into a larger size is very doable. The recommended hook size for #4 weight yarn is 7 or 8 with 8 having better drape. The stitch pattern repeat is 14 + 1, I would try to make a small swatch with 2-3 basic repeats and a few rows to estimate how many repeats it would be for the desired width. You have a wealth of crafting experience under your belt! I hope you enjoy the pattern and I would love to know how you are getting on with it 🙂.

@@exquisitecrochetuk Thank you very much for the help...and I do have the PDF as well. 🤗 I do think a swatch is the only way to go with this. I also need to figure out the color repeat...his colors are teal (on the blue side) , neon green and neon orange, 🤔I have ordered an apple green and carrot orange also, as I think the neons would be overwhelming without a color transition. (so...the pattern is 14 [plus 1]...seven stitches on each side of the 1 increase/decrease stitch.) I'm guessing the larger size hook will also help with the Tunisian curl...if there is one.
@exquisitecrochetuk
@exquisitecrochetuk Ай бұрын
@ The colours are interesting! Definitely agree with you the neon combo needs a little something.. I usually use Knit Pro interchangeable hooks, they go up to 12 mm I think.. what hooks do you use for your Tunisian crochet projects? 🙂

@@exquisitecrochetuk Haven't made anything that requires a cable...so, thank you for the suggestion. 🤗 I have aluminum and wood in all sizes and lengths...also a collection of double ended aluminum hooks that I love...enjoy working with 2 colors of yarn...usually one color is a striping or fading yarn and the other is usually a dark contrasting color. I have made lots of beanies for charity in the 2 colors and added a ribbed brim. The last of the yarn came today, so I'm going to start my swatches next. 🤞and look into ordering those Knit Pro needles. Thank you so much for your guidance with this project .🥰

There are some strategies how to combat the curling! I have a whole video about it- link below but in essence, hook size plays a big role and blocking! Cannot recommend blocking enough 🙂: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gnLchKylg8x-bNEsi=TZcfZ_l9QT3VBaDY

You had me at quickly! 😂 I’ve been knitting for over 25 years. A few years ago I took up crochet to make family blankets since my granny passed and so far I’ve made 1 each for my niece and nephew, and am started on a 3rd for my son, and while it’s certainly much quicker than I could knit- it’s still a pretty lengthy process. For the next one, I’ll definitely look into this, it’s SO pretty and I love the smooth finish. One thing I dislike about crochet is the finish - it’s so bumpy (for lack of a better word) and I feel like even the softest yarns lose some softness in crochet because of it.
