The wobble was not too bad considering you had no gimbal. I think we have to accept some compromise if we are not a full-fledged camera crew with tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of equipment and the time to test multiple shots. Did you have fun with the 6mm? I enjoyed watching!
@camerabaka4 күн бұрын
Thanks for your comment. If I just take static shots, then it's fine, However, as soon as I start panning or walking, the IBIS brings about the wobbles. The best way to use wide-angle lenses is on a gimbal or tripod with the IBIS turned off. It was an experiment to see how it would go handheld.

Osaka certainly doesn't grab the attention and limelight that Tokyo does. It's underrated, especially considering that major tourist destinations (eg. Kyoto, Nara, Kobe) are a short train ride away.

Your photos come alive when the subjects are closer to the camera which separates them from the distortion of the wide angle lens. They blend into the backgrounds when they are about 7m - 10m away. Then the photos become too 'snapshot'.
@camerabaka19 күн бұрын
I agree. I find the GRIIIx is better for street photography because it allows you to get closer to the subject. With the GRIII, you need to get out of your comfort zone in order to make a more interesting composition. It's learning experience.

Facinating castle I had not heard of before! Thanks for sharing :) the 4k video looks great BTW from the action 4 - I have the pocket 3, but I think in good light like you have here, I really love the HD all in focus look, might have to pick one of these up, or the 5 when it comes out. Do you do much photography with your gh6? I know its quite a bit bulkier, but it looks like from your description you have a good selection of lens for it - I have not tried panasonic as I mostly use the ricoh and an olympus - but have been tempted by a lumix for the better video and also maybe photography.
@camerabaka2 ай бұрын
Amagasaki Castle is an obscure one for sure. The DJI Osmo Action 4 is superb. If you’re shooting in daylight, which I mainly do, the footage is sublime. I really love the magnetic mount, especially as I ride a motorcycle (different YT channel) and like the ease of transferring it to other mounts. I used to have Olympus gear but have sold it all. Awesome system for travel photography! I’ve never shot even one photo with the GH6 because I bought it specifically for video. That said, I’m confident it’d take stellar photos. I still own a mint Nikon D700 (you can still find new ones here in Japan) with a bunch of lenses. I absolutely love this camera and like that it’s dedicated for photography. I also recently received a brand new Pentax K-1 Mark II and a Pentax 35mm f2, along with a 50mm f1.4. I picked up an adaptor for the K-1 II so that I can use all my exquisite Nikkor D lenses. I hope to start doing photowalks with these cameras soon. I have trips to Australia, Thailand and Vietnam lined up for this year. Of course, I’ll be trying to get around Japan as much as possible.

Cool to see a different technique being used from most - I have not tried shooting street with shutter priority - Ill have to try it out sometime on the GR - have you tried other modes with a min shutter speed and found that shutter prio works better for your style?
@camerabaka2 ай бұрын
Thanks for tuning in and commenting! It's appreciated. Recently, I've been using 'P' mode and adjusting the aperture to suit the situation as I see it. As a rule of thumb, more depth of field is preferred in street photography (they say), but sometimes, for artistic reasons, etc., having some bokeh makes for a more interesting image. I had a quick peek at your channel. Looks great! I'll definitely check it out more. Cheers!
@BMadPhoto2 ай бұрын
@johneather I love using P mode with A shift, it's become my goto! Not sure if u know but you can set the program line to have p mode favor deep normal or shallow focus also.
@camerabaka2 ай бұрын
@@BMadPhoto Yes, I've definitely seen that option. TBH, the scope of control with this little camera is overwhelming. That's a big part of why I use 'P' mode: keeping things simple so I'm focused on taking photos. I'll definitely try some more experimentation. The 'snap focus priority' mode is excellent in good light for me.
