I just rode this a few months ago and it felt like all of the physical effects (dragon, willow, spiders, dementors) were so much closer and in your face then when I'd previously ridden it in '18 and '13. does anyone know if anything changed or am i just crazy? also its great to see the dragon with the lights on, its way more detailed and complete than i thought it would be!

Went on this ride last year and several years back. Both times the ride broke down towards the start and we got to see the behind the scenes. Great experience unironically.

My friend and I got stopped right as you got off. They explained the evacuation process to us and there’s another plan if this doesn’t work, which they have never used. The smack into the restraint was the most painful jolt I’ve ever experienced. They checked on us, even though we weren’t inside the ride. We were easily evacuated. My niece and I were stopped briefly at the whopping willow about a year later and I was like not again! My most exciting evac was Rip Ride Rock It.

I’ve been in this so many times, and I swear there’s a section that goes downhill. Even looking at it on the ride, it looks like it goes down

I broke down on this ride once. Instead otra light turning on, the ride just fast forwarded like a vhs. It moved 5x faster than normal and gave me whiplash lol.

nothing will ever beat my experience riding this ride as a kid. i had flip flops on and the entire time i was scared shitless that my shoe was gonna fly off. also, the spiders terrified 9 year old me lmfao

At least there's paths nearby the ride so the employees would start searching when you tell them when you get off the ride

It's soo weird they let you on with flip flops.. What if it gets stuck in the track?

This is referred to as Keyhole Mode. The Kuka arms put the bench in a safe, forward facing, fixed position. They can travel through the ride without bumping into anything

Would it bump into things otherwise?

@@loganrandall5417 it wont but it is just a safety precaution so that it is ensured that it doesn’t bump into anything so no it wont bump into things otherwise

It looks like it's also with the arms on the ride vehicles not necessarily doing what they'd do during the actual ride. A lot of the reason you don't notice you're in a big empty building is that for large stretches of the ride, you're facing a concave screen that is moving with the ride vehicle, temporarily turning it into a projection simulator. But the benches often aren't facing the screens in this video.

Honestly this is a fantastic video to show just how incrediblely important the design of the actual ride "vehicle" is as far as its ability to immerse you in the visuals. You realize with the lights on how simple it all ultimately is.

I don't remember seeing the Dementors in Orlando. So, seeing them everywhere was intense lol. My favorite would be the Whomping Willow. It's a simple animatronic that basically nudges you along into the next giant screen, but they really nailed it.

Big lack of props during the end. Lots of screens in there but I've never ridden it so I can't really talk shit, just seems like a lot of screen time.

Whoever designed this ride did such a spectacular job. Every part of it blows me away every time. The motion sickness is a small price to pay for the exceptional experience. This ride really sets the bar high. It left me so disappointed with the mummy ride lol.
