This is referred to as Keyhole Mode. The Kuka arms put the bench in a safe, forward facing, fixed position. They can travel through the ride without bumping into anything

It looks like it's also with the arms on the ride vehicles not necessarily doing what they'd do during the actual ride. A lot of the reason you don't notice you're in a big empty building is that for large stretches of the ride, you're facing a concave screen that is moving with the ride vehicle, temporarily turning it into a projection simulator. But the benches often aren't facing the screens in this video.

The Deers look even scarier, but the spiders honestly aren’t even that bad

Honestly this is a fantastic video to show just how incrediblely important the design of the actual ride "vehicle" is as far as its ability to immerse you in the visuals. You realize with the lights on how simple it all ultimately is.

I don't remember seeing the Dementors in Orlando. So, seeing them everywhere was intense lol. My favorite would be the Whomping Willow. It's a simple animatronic that basically nudges you along into the next giant screen, but they really nailed it.

Big lack of props during the end. Lots of screens in there but I've never ridden it so I can't really talk shit, just seems like a lot of screen time.

This looks fun but I definitely don’t want it replacing Dinosaur.

Whoever designed this ride did such a spectacular job. Every part of it blows me away every time. The motion sickness is a small price to pay for the exceptional experience. This ride really sets the bar high. It left me so disappointed with the mummy ride lol.

It’s kinda disappointing to see this ride still fail in some aspects even after the refurb or maybe this was just an off day for the ride since the projections on Mara flickered on and off but still works, the fog being a bit dimmer in the tunnel of torment, the projections in the big room being shorter, fluffy the snake’s mouth staying open with its teeth showing (wish they’d actually know how to keep her fixed), the ghost of Mara/blue spirit’s screech not being played correctly and finally the big boulder scene being cut a bit short when it should’ve been longer, guess that refurb really did have some repercussions but not as bad as what it once was in the early COVID years.

It's nice to see that Aragog (the giant spider) is still as terrifying with lights on as he is in the dark with strobe lighting XD While I've not had the lights-on experience. My mom and I were on the ride a year or so after the debut and we ended up nearly on our backs facing the dragon when the ride stalled. It was only for about a minute or so, thankfully and the ride finished normally.

Rushed over to ride it one last time after work... missed the single rider queue. Was part of the last few rides and got to meet Tony Baxter at the end of the night. Miss Splash Mountain so much, truly my favorite ride in the parks. Looking forward to Tiana's though!
