I thought X b.c. (before c) is like negative, X a.c. (after c) is like positive, and there's something like zero (just when c) (i don't remember what c stands for)

bc stands for before christ and the year 0 doesnt exist, it goes straight to 1ad (anno domini, year of our lord in latin)
