My recent EQ6-R pro, ASI533, ASI071, ASI224 and a modified Canon 600D and a Canon 6D, give a wide variety of views and after getting an EDGE 8 inch, the only thing left to get is maybe a 200 mm prime lens, and pray for clear skies ?

Great video, James. I have a similar mount and tube. What is the rail that you use to mount to the scope handle that the starsense sits on?

Fantastic details, really very beautiful. Congratulations! I have a question about your Plant Timelapse, unfortunately the comment is disabled. What kind of time interval do you have to take, with such a slow movement? Do you have a recommendation?

Sorry for my imprecise question. What time interval do you choose for plants? 1min. or 10 min. or 1/2 h per picture?
@jameshunsucker73732 жыл бұрын
@@patrickb.6465 I believe it was 30sec intervals. I want to say it took 1 1/2 hours, then sped up the frame rate to make it 6 seconds. Just took a plant that REALLY needed water 💦
@jameshunsucker73732 жыл бұрын
If it was more of a natural process, then 1-10min intervals.

Th affect of the Hyperstar on the image in terms of modifying the diffraction pattern and contrast will be less of an issue because you are using it at the focus of the primary, which is (whatever the focal length of the primary is - maybe 400mm+). With a dSLR camera shape stuck to the front of the secondary holder, as in your experiment, you are photographing at the Cassegrain focus (2032mm). Its apples and oranges.

I will say the Starsense needs to be focussed. Which is a pain iteratively turning the lens in and on in smaller and smaller movements to gain maximum stars, but it only has to be done the once - and then the Starsense will auto-align in a couple of minutes like magic instead of the 20 minutes messing about manually. Throughout the night the Starsense will continue to plate solve to maintain go-to accuracy. What it does not do is guiding.

I have one of these and they are far more than a starter telescope. A great scope for anyone, and the double doubles in Lyra are easily split at with a 6 mm and a 2X barlow with less than good seeing. That would be less than 1.9 arc seconds, that I would say is very good for a 102 mm scope.

That is a removable plastic dust cover on the bottom of the 1.25 snout .. you just gotta work at it to remove it, and you don’t unscrew anything to use it it a 2” diagonal. You probably have figured this out by now .. but just in case any noobs are watching. So how’s your uniformity? You get a good one or bad one? Quarks are great for the price when you get a good one 👍

Presumably the best way would be to spend money on a dedicated astronomy camera that is small and round like a ZWO and mess with extensions until the focus is correct. I have an 8 EdgeHD but only thing about doing this so far. If it works it would certainly provide a nice field of view and help to reduce exposure times.

For the generation with padded corners, it's perfectly safe with a little common sense. Something that isn't so common anymore. I cringe watching some of these people narrate.
