He should of been promoted, not punished. Politicians being protected yet again. Thatcher must of heard what was covered up by these ministers, and as a result should of sacked them. So much for her admiration for the troops achievements, when she allows this very able Captain to be punished.

Thanks for sharing this. I've been searching for it for years! I remember it being shown on Pebble Mill at One which I watched during my dinner break from school. I wish the BBC would show it again.

When Captain Barker is seen at the Memorial Service at Stanley (2mins 45sec in) he is wearing his medals, they include his South Atlantic Medal with Rosette and his 1977 Silver Jubilee Medal along with a third I can't identify. Does anyone know which medal it is?

This is the best and most creditable account of how the Falklands war was allowed to happen - So many young men on both sides died because of bureaucrats - That ladies account of the trench foot conscript being shot and thrown over the sea wall should be broadcast to all them folk still peddling the injustice of this conflict

1669Python: I've just come across this video and that's exactly what I was going to ask. I was on the RM Det 80 - 81, he was a fine man and complete gentleman.

Thanks Henry, I was born in 1983, "Beyond Endurance" is one of my all time favourite books & your fathers ship & story has fascinated me ever since I was a child. Occasionally I spend sometime trawling KZbin for little hidden nuggets and this time I've struck gold. All the best to you and yours. Thanks again.
