I remember when I was a Child my Mum had a Friend, A Lovely Lady from the Country , She was quiet a big women, but very gentle, and she told us ghost stories, one that I will Always remember, about Dublin back in the early days when there was very few cars to be seen on the roads, but one fellow who was lucky enough to own one was driving home late from his Birthday party, His Mum had given him a lighter for his Birthday, and as he was heading home he was flagged down by this Lady and her Daughter who told him they had missed the last bus home, he said he would be glad to drop them home, he did, he drove them to Fitzwilliam Square and as they got out of the car the Mother invited him in for a drink to thank him for the lift, he at first declined but at the Mums insistence he decided why not. So he went inside and followed them up to there rooms on the top floor where he lit a cigarette and had a drink. He thanked them and said goodnight and drove home, but he realized that he had left his lighter behind. So the next morning he went back and went up the steps to the house and knocked at the door, he got no answer so he knocked again, and this time a gentleman came from downstairs and asked ho he was looking for, he told the man about the two ladies he had given a lift too the night before and explained that he had left his lighter behind, Well the man explained that he was the caretaker and that no one lived upstairs in the house, he insisted he Had the right house and the man said I will bring you up and show you that the rooms are empty and proceeded to bring him up to the top flat, the caretaker opened the door and when they both went into the room there was the empty glass he had been drinking from and beside it the ashtray and lighter his Mum had bought him for his Birthday ! The caretaker was Shocked ! He told the young man that A lady and her Daughter had lived there but both were knocked down and killed on there way home one night some yrs before ! they both ended up in shock ! I have enjoyed watching all your videos Luke ! Wonderful history. Well done !

Decay. Rot. Death. Isolation. These houses were fun (for the lords.) when the lords had an army of desperate slaves to wait on them, hand and foot.

Clan Leslie also had Gaelic roots in Scotland, as they were descended from Macolm III, a Gael and King of Scotland.

All that Irish nationalism, and now beholden to the EU and their migration policies. There's a certain irony.

====================================== 07:08 reminds me of a similar, less grand, throne ====================================== at Trengwainton, Penzance, home of Colonel Sir Edward Bolitho, LL of Cornwall, which once served my needs well! / I would be very much at home at Castle Leslie. My ancestors have had various homes and castles, such as Macleod of Assynt and Macleod of Cadboll, which is why in 1984 I went post-haste to Castle Ardross in the hope of buying a castle so close to Invergordon Castle, where my great-grandmother was born. Sadly, it was not to be! / Edwards's father, Major Simon Bolitho, could remember dancing in the Great Hall at Ardross, as a young man before WW2. With it's hammer beams and minstrel's gallery, it definitely appealed to me! / Two of my Macleod ancestors were knighted by ( later to be ) King Charles II for leading 1,000 Macleods at the Battle of Worcester. Sadly a defeat, one ended up in the Tower of London, though he escaped. As hearing the pipes raises my Highland blood, I have since childhood wanted a castle and personal piper! Perhaps in my next life, in a less Marxist time? /

The oldest aristocratic families in England and Scotland were, like the Leslie's, Roman Catholic: the Fitzalan-Howard's, Crichton-Stuart's, Stourton's, Parker Bowles's, and more. These so-called "Recusants" kept the faith through 300yrs of anti-Catholic laws. Respect❤

Aunt Anita Leslie’s Red Indian heritage? American Indian?
@exaudi332 ай бұрын
Yes. Leonie Jerome (wife of Sir John Leslie), was of American parentage and had a maternal grandmother who was half-Iroquois.
