Just seeing this, thank you for your continued work on this project. I started in version 7.0 and had a ton of fun. The new stuff looks really neat though. I am inspired to rip and tear once again. 🤘🤘

Omg , version 8.0 !!! Thats amazing . I love the step sounds feature ! It helps a lot to make a mental map. One thing i can say , is you definetely have the most accessible fps sighted game mod features. There is no other sighted fps games with that much accessibility options. Even big games like the last of us should implement some of your features haha. You are amazing alan ! Keep doing your good work. We all thank you for making these old fps games accessible for blind community :)

Glad you like the Conan the Barbarian bit - The sprite graphic for the Fighter looks a little like Arnold's character so, the comedic gears in my head thought, "I'll do a funny Arnold impression with the Hexen theme, LOL!"

Sorry about that. When I was recording the video, for some reason my mind was thinking linedef number instead of proximity. My mind was kind of burnt out by this point, LOL. I'll make the correction in the description for the time being. I'm sure that in the next release, the numbers will be replaced with the same approach that the area scanner uses - Close, Medium Distance, & Far Away. The cool thing about Exploration is that it works pretty well, nevertheless. Check out IllegallySighted's video on his channel - the system works beautifully. Awesome work as always, Proydoha :)

I'm sure you and the guys are sick of me saying this but I can't thank you guys enough for being part of this project. Everyone's contributions have helped to mold this project into what it is today. Even Toby himself is impressed with how far this project has come. Hopefully, people will hop on board the Toby Challenge. Now that's something to look forward to :)

Hello , i love what you are doing to doom. An amazing job. Im a nvgt developer , its the new coding language that came out this year has the bgt successor . Its a audio game coding language. Im hosting a 3d first person shooting game since 4 years now , with an average of 20 to 35 online players every day. I have similar systems that you are using , such as coordonate , compass , step sounds , beacons , . I also have tracking and auto tracking features , wall and gap radar , something that could be handy in your doom accessibility mod , its for detecting walls , opened walls , and gap in the ground. I also have a real time map building feature , that mean you can add content on the fly at any moment. There is over 220 weapons , over 120 monsters , lots of vehicles , weapon crafting system , mining system , item craftings etc etc. I dont know if you ever tried a audio game before , maybe it could give you ideas to bring to your mod. But i thank you very much for the amazing job. I played that game when i was young with my sight . And its amazing to be able to play that game with all your accessibility mods :)

Excellent! I love having all four classic Doom engine games made accessible. The other cool thing about Hexen not really mentioned here, is you get to choose between three different character classes, each with their own set of weapons.

I would get both The Ultimate Doom and Doom 2. Even though Toby Doom (the custom level pack that comes with the Toby Accessibility Mod), the Demo Map, and the deathmatch maps require Doom 2, it would be beneficial to have the 2 main Doom games. However, you are able to acquire Freedoom which is essentially a free version of the Doom games but all the resources (sprites, graphics, sounds, etc.,) have been substituted to avoid copyright issues. Freedoom provides IWADS that are compatible with the Toby Accessibility Mod. Information on where to get Freedoom is located in the Toby Accessibility Mod Manual.

Are you referring to the non-midi songs or the songs done by Mark Klem, David Shaw, Jimmy Paddock, and a couple of others who made their own custom midi music? If it's the non-midi songs like the title screen and intermission music, those are from a couple of community members who had made remastered or remixed versions of the Doom music (that's if you are referring to the original Doom Tribute Project, not the Lite Edition). For the custom midi songs, those I've gathered from other Doom wads like Momento Mori, Requiem, Biowar, Jimmy's Jukebox, and a handful of others.

If this is in regards to the protruding bricks, I left you a reply on the TOTLM 2 video. The flashlight doesn't work with newer versions of GZDoom. When played with GZDoom 1.6.0 or 1.8.2, it works better. Some features in the old TOTLM games did not age well. If I may add, I would find it much more helpful if you can elaborate on the issues you're experiencing so I may be able to look further into it and troubleshoot the problems more efficiently. Thank you.

Cannot be completed without cheats, like the start of the second map with the glowing tile does nothing, there are other broken scripts in other maps.

Are you playing the old version or the Gold Edition? In the older version, you have to press on protruding tiles on their outer lines or their outer edges in order for them to work properly. If you're pressing on them while on top of them, they won't work. Some of the protruding bricks still exist in the Gold Edition but the same concept applies. Press on the bricks from the side - don't stand on them.

Heya there Space Marine: Just watched yer vid last night at work, and just giving some encouragement for that much needed break. After this update to the Toby Doom mod you've cranked out, alone, pretty damn good, and should keep us busy for a while. I played with the Alpha Division mod a bit and got it to sort of work, and the Project Brutality as well. Damn, but those imps really sqeak like hell with the PB mod. Anyway, take care, and rock on! Apparently there was a tiny bug in the initial release of the Gold Edition. The issue has been fixed and you can download the updated version of it.

hi there. liking this so far. am finding navigation somewhat difficult though. could we please have like a radar type thing that tells us if we are coming close to a wall. yes i know that if we hit a wall it beeps but could we have an option that basically gets louder as we get closer? also would be handy to be able to have like a sounds tutorial as well. so you go into the game, you can then go into something lets call it game sounds, in here you go down all the various sounds for the various actions in game so you can familiarise yourself with them. would make life easier. also can we have a way to silence speech? so when you're checking what's around you if you want to stop the speech then you can do that. 1 more suggestion if i may, sometimes if there's something that's behind a wall there's no way of knowing. sometimes you can hear something even if you are in a different passage. could something please be done about this?

1. The radar idea is something we had been thinking about. It is something we can consider in the next iteration. 2. There is a demo level you can play which gives players the ability to explore and discover all the different sounds they'll hear while playing the game. They, too, can experiment with the accessibility features so they can master how to use them. 3. I'm not sure if there is a way to cancel out the narrator's speech. We can look into it but I cannot promise anything. 4. If it's a decoration, I can look into it - it likely is possible. If it's a monster, however, I may be unable to do something about that. 3. For now an ugly workaround for cancelling narrator's speech is opening and closing menu or opening and closing console. They operate off the same sound queue and menu/console narration will override any other currently running narration.

Ya know it would be supa cool if u added some new monsters, or maybe add some to the already existing groups of monster such as the zombieman (You should maybe add a new type of zombie) or sum like dat.

I actually do have an enemy replacement wad that goes with it. There is an Add-on folder within the zip file that does contain an enemy replacement wad along with some other cool add-ons. The enemies have some Duke Nukem and Strife sprites and are pretty fun to battle whether one uses The Alpha Division or with another mod.

Yes. Although I don't call him Marcus, just Marc, but he is a real friend of mine. The other characters (with the exception of Lucky), too, are based on some of my real life friends.

I love the new voicelines for the doors, their perfectly cheesy for hell and fits in with the uac theme for the keys. The floating eye sound is a little terrifying!

Amazing idea. Might want to do some normalization on the audio for the stat checkers, someone hard of hearing that may need to turn the audio or sub bass up might not be able to hear the quieter queues. Ideally all the audio would be the same volume.

Way ahead of you :) After I completed the video, I was listening with headphones and noticed the slight difference in volume and quality. I re-recorded all those voiceovers and have implemented them into the mod. Once the final release is released, the audio quality should be consistent.

Got another suggestion on sound, consider making the pitch of the electric hum different for different sizes, a higher pitch for the yellow floor lamp, and a deeper pitch for the tall blue lamp. Similarly for the colored torches, a higher pitch for the shorter ones. Further, perhaps giving the green and blue ones some kind of otherworldly affect to their sounds, the blue ones having a ringing to them, and the green ones having a wind-like or hollow sound to them.

@@0neDoomedSpaceMarine That's not a bad idea. I can definitely do that with the lamps. The torches, however, I'll have to get a little more creative. The high/low pitches may not be the best for the torches, although I remember a Doom wad where there were different sounds for the torches. I'll have to see if I can track it down. this was just reccomended to me and i love this. im not even blind and this is just. great. especially how you make all of the directional noises, even the ambiance sounds and the doors sound like they are part of the game. i see a lot of accessibility mods just slap things that don't even feel like the game onto it and calling it a day.. i love how its like. doomguy having a little helper in his helmet that is there and tells him whats happening. this is so cool. i love this

Hello I am so excited to play this new version of mod in action. My suggestion in the future is to make a list of closest obiects and monsters which can be browsed with down arrow key.. After pressing enter this game will be track this obiect and play an beeping sound, which will indicate how far you are in ration to this obiect. If you will be closer, the beeping sound will be faster. I think, that showing obiects in list will be more faster than listening every obiect, as it is .currently

I’m really looking forward to this release, all those features look so good, and the multiplayer game is going to be so much fun And I totally agree, that area scanner could come in really handy for some of the more confusing areas. or just some of the areas in general LOL, as always I am so impressed with the work you and your team are doing.

You'll definitely get a kick out of these new features, man :) Proydoha did an incredible job especially with the Area Scanner System. I could see this be the go-to tool for blind players especially for navigational purposes.
