Is this not the Yorkshire Air Museum and Allied Forces Memorial? Elvington not Doncaster one, they are two different and both good museums.
@ianmaw665 күн бұрын
Hi mate. Maybe I confused them. They do have confusing naming. Update: corrected now I hope. Thanks for telling me.

Surely if you've got a dedicated display area for Flying Scotsman the loco should be there instead of being up at Locomotion?

Good point. I was told that they have more vehicles at Shildon now compared to NRM York.

This is a museum I want to visit having been to the NRM at York. There is no sound on your video. Is that deliberate? You also need to edit the title as the location is Shildon.
@ianmaw665 күн бұрын
Thanks for your comment. Sorry about the title, I will fix that. I didn't include the sound because it would just be people talking. It would include annoying children shouting and I thought peace and quiet might be better :)
@TheBioniXman6 күн бұрын
Shame that there is no sound. I have worked on many of those aircraft, including the Harrier GR3 XV748 and the Jag XZ383.
@ianmaw666 күн бұрын
Thanks for commenting. There was no sound to record, just the noise of other people at the museum. I used to add music but the music can often take away from the subject matter. What sound would you want to hear?
@williamparker37657 күн бұрын
Sorry but much as I would have liked to see the whole of the video, the panning round was much to quick for me, if you make another video like this please go slowly on the panning it makes me and I'm sure other people dizzy. otherwise a good video
@ianmaw667 күн бұрын
OK thanks for your comment. The gimbal was new to me and maybe I could have set the panning speed slower. Sorry you didn't like the video.

You could argue that Concorde lost the "battle" of introducing widespread supersonic flight but won the "war" of showing that English-European commercial airline construction was not only possible but pretty much necessary. Unfortunately, there are now forces (unions, communists, China, Russia) working to destroy Boeing and replace it with a Chinese manufacturer. When they do, they'll immediately start aiming at destroying AirBus.

Yes ! Had just found out about this recently, and to find Phil's drawing about this at the Filton museum (where, most importantly, a Concorde resides) was nice

I worked as an aviation electromechanical tech. After college. It was a great experience for me. Boeing and Airbus. Brand. The complete Overhaul process was something I saw firsthand as well as the administration and clerical. Concorde dept. was a special dept. Ian and Gi Hilda 24:03 24:03 24:03 24:03 24:03 24:03 24:03 were the main managers there. It was of course restricted .1985-1986. Batch-air MIAirport. Arrow air affiliate in Puerto’s Rico. My friends were in flightline dept. Began as payroll clerk for 600 employees. Then transferred to tech dept. Got to know many key managers very quickly. Rhonda was a key executive secretary. Mr. Burris was the Chief technical manager for the ABC checks. They were very close to Aerothrust corp. The engine testers. Omar Rincon was my supervisor. Eddie Ching also. Both were of Colombian descent. That was the stepping stone to Eastern and PanAm at the time.From there was where NASA would recruit the Space Shuttle techs. The alliance group is what they call it . Very closely knit group.

Whilst i love these locomotives, the designers had no idea about what the operator needed. His controls look very unfriendly and though he has big windows, he is seated far too low. Ergonomics was an unknown thing back then I guess. OHS was probably way less important than that. I pity the poor man that had to spend many hous a day in that workplace. He probably has rudimentary heating or cooling and a rubbish chair to sit on too. I am in no way a fan of the 'Nanny State,' but this had to change for the better.

I've flown on the Concorde. "It" is absolutely "suureal." Seriously. "It" rolls from Paris to New York in "like," no time (supesonic) like 1500 miles per hour in 3.5 hours. Unbelievable. I'm sad she is gone.

Amazing to consider. 1909 First flight across the English Channel 1969 First landing of a man on the moon. 1969 The first test flight of Concorde. 2024 ... 55 years later... Subsonic.

No civil airliner today can fly at the speed of sound let alone Concorde's twice the speed of sound. On Concorde you could fly one mile in three seconds. Puke all you like but try to do what Concorde did day after day. She was a technological marvel that still hasn't been beaten and she was beautiful.
