J, couple of ?? Wasn't that your starter bass? Why didn't you take the Fender or one of your more expensive basses? Why go wireless in the studio? You laid it down bro. You saw the reaction of the people when they here that palm muting. Lol

Brother, you're right. I first own a '68 Fender Jazz Bass in '79. I've own a '75, '78, '07, '09, '17, '22 and i now own my own custom model made by esteemed builder, Jerry Lucas. I have Precisions and Musicman basses but, nothing, for my money, beats a J Bass!

As a working session bassist, it's ideal to own both a P-bass and a Jazz bass, as these two types cover the range of sounds most producers seek. However, if limited to one, the Jazz bass would be the choice. You can get a Jazz bass to sound very similar to a P-bass, but you can't get a P-bass to sound like a Jazz bass. Nonetheless, the distinct sound of a P-bass with flat-wound strings is instantly identifiable in the studio, much like the signature slap tone of a Jazz bass.

Sorry, history shows that the Fender P Bass is the go to bass for almost any occasion. More famous songs recorded with a P Bass than any other by a long way.

Maybe before 1960 and if you only include Motown lol. You could not be more wrong tho. A P bass is great but it is far from the “go-to” these days. -Signed An actual touring/studio bassist
