What’s the controversy with Philippines? I’m curious as I’m Filipino my self

@@wilsondoggo6443 The teal dress studded with diamonds represents Imelda Marcos, former First Lady. It’s a fascinating political story. The yellow dress represents Corazon Aquino who was the first female President. The people’s revolt was known as the yellow movement because Corazon always wore yellow . There are great documentaries on KZbin .

Would it be possible for you to show the catalogs fro these dolls? 💜
@FolkandFashionDollsКүн бұрын
@@wilsondoggo6443 what years are you interested in? The catalog pictures are in black and white up until 1982 and do not represent the dolls too well. That is why I have made videos on the dolls I have from the early 1960’s onward. In my recent video I showed the 1984 and 1985 catalogs.

@@FolkandFashionDollsthe one you showed in your other vidoes where it had the babies and 14 inch dolls as well as the international dolls, I would love to see them as I never see it online and buying one is so expensive since I’m outside of the USA

@ thank you so much for your interest, I really enjoy sharing my collection. You can get the older dolls very cheap on Ebay. New dolls are still available at MadameAlexander.com. I just purchased a baby doll for my grandniece. With the 30% off sale it was very reasonable ! In my next video I will show the whole catalog for you.

Hi Kim my best friend moved to Florida from NJ 12 years ago. She gave me her doll collection as she had no basement or attic. There are about 34 madame Alexander dolls. Mostly historical figures and one of madame Alexander at 3 feet. Do you have any idea where i can donate them?
@FolkandFashionDolls2 күн бұрын
@@ilenet9911 Thank you! You identified my accent. I’m from northern NJ. You can donate them to any of the thrift stores. I personally prefer the Salvation Army because they hire people in need. Thanks again for your comment!

Will this work for bigger doll as well or only the Wendy Ginny?
@FolkandFashionDolls4 ай бұрын
That’s a great question. It depends on the doll manufacturer. Some walker dolls are spring strung such as Sweet Sue by American Character. The very large Ideal dolls tend to have metal rods at the hip joints such as Saucy Walker. You just have to gently pull the thigh away from the body to see how it is attached. If there is no give then it’s most likely a metal rod mechanism. Hope that helps and thank you for watching.

Is this limited to composition dolls and are the composition dolls that craze hollow? Are dolls carved in wood less likely to do this?
@FolkandFashionDolls10 ай бұрын
Most compo dolls are hollow. Only the very early ones made circa 1910-1918 may have solid limbs. Heads are hollow with a removable pate that usually disintegrates over the years. For wood carved dolls, I would think that wax or mineral oil will protect them if you see the finish starting to rub off.

I know this is about crack prevention and fixing but if left alone is it safe? I can’t find any info on if this doll has lead in the paint and I really like the creepy crackling look 😅 I’ve been looking for effanbee dolls from 20’s and 30’s. Even if you could direct me to somewhere I can learn more that’d be super helpful as I don’t know much about vintage dolls. Thank you!
@FolkandFashionDolls10 ай бұрын
Sorry for late reply. Yes, you have to assume all painted objects prior to 1970 has lead in the paint. As long as not frequently handled and displayed in well vented area should not give off toxic fumes. The dust particles inside the composition can be dangerous to the lungs if you are restoring. Wear mask and gloves with frequent handling. Just do a Google search and lots of Effanbee compo dolls should come up for sale. Hope that helps, thank you!

How put the head on this doll
@FolkandFashionDollsКүн бұрын
Only strung dolls can be fixed with bands or stretch cords. These BKW’s would require taking the doll apart by splitting the seam. It’s complicated and not worth it.

I was just fortunate enough to find several bags of MA dolls at Savers in Boise. The collector who donated was apparently a Gone With the Wind fan. I got some dolls from that line I'd never seen before including Prissy, Ashley, Suellen and Careen. Bonnie is missing a show, darn it! I also got Queen Elizabeth II, missing her crown, Queen Isabella and Columbus. All probably from the 90's or early 2000's. Just a really fun find.
