Dr. Greenway! I’m driving to pick up my daughter from a band performance watching your videos. My husband is driving actually. Anyway, she’s 16 and crying most nights but she says she doesn’t know why. Hormonal? Psychological? Both? I need to make an appointment!

Why is not being social called autism or an autistic disability? Then, you learn to be social and it's called masking autism? It's like, oh, you have been born and you can't speak/communicate, I'ma call you person with disability type 1. Then, you learn to speak and they say you're hiding your disability type 1 or just forget that the called you someone with a disability type 1. If you do not know something, you have a disability? Why can't you all learn to solve differential equation like I did, you disabledFailures, right?

It’s time that the medical profession updated their old (and incorrect) ideas. Autism is a spectrum. Women are particularly good at masking, mimicking and performing (acting how they feel they should).

The diagnostic criteria are problematic - I was diagnosed Autistic as a child, I have issues with eye contact, back and forth conversation, I rock back and forth all the time, flap my hands, would line up toys, I struggle to approach people and have limited independence BUT I am very good at reading facial expressions and understanding tone of voice and I am very expressive. The rigid diagnostic criteria is why I almost wasn't diagnosed (half of specialists I saw said I was autistic and half said I was not) despite the fact that the traits I do have disable me and from the outside I do look quite stereotypically autistic in regards to my poor eye contact, rocking, and obsessive interests.

I get some are non-speaking, but I love and appreciate my way and other autistic people's way of communication. I don't have it, it's apart of who I am. I wish there was a way to root out bigotry from people that practice psychology.

Im struggling so bad with my 2 year old. He has ALWAYS slept on his own, with door closed, no soothing from mom. As of lately he screams as soon as he sees me turn my back to walk out the room, doesnt settle on his own, will sleep if I pat his back for about 10 minutes but will wake an hour or so later and the process repeats ALL NIGHT. This happened when I transitioned him to his toddler bed but its been almost a year now since then. I let him cry it out the first time around or I would walk in without saying a word and put him back in bed over and over. All he wants to do now and insisting on sleeping with me! Im not creating a habit of this but to let him cry it out now is going to warrant noise complaints from my neighbors. The screaming and pounding on the door (open or closed) and jumping up and down at all hours is a lot. Im just at a loss of what to do. Any help?

There’s no “mild end of the autism spectrum” like you said. The spectrum isn’t a line.

Lots of misunderstanding about ADHD in the general public. A colleague of mine thought that because I have ADHD, my "behavior" was attributed to trying to GET attention from others! 😕

The blanket statements you use to explain the points clearly show that most of your "knowledge" about autism is based on assumptions made by people who are not autistic.

Disagreeing and gaslighting are not the same thing. Gaslighting means denying someone's reality and if someone's denying my reality, I don't need the third person to check it out for me. This doesn't make sense at all!
