Does FL allow you to register kids at a public school from TTO or other campgrounds with an annual or seasonal site? We’ve run into some states that don’t allow it but considering sunsetting now in FL, thx - Rob

I wonder why they don't make the option of ditching their crappy furniture for a lower price. I'd totally be down for this. When I plan on buying I definitely don't want the sofas, chairs, mattresses and I intend to not have glass shower doors. I also wonder if I could take out the built in dressers and install my own. In my home it bothers me having a 20 inch dresser and yet I only get 11 inch deep drawers. I get shrinkflation but I'm so sick of that and couches that have 12inch backs.

For modern trucks, there is a sticker in the door jam that gives the SAE numbers for each vehicle. So while for my truck, GCVWR - GVWR = 15000-7000=8,000 for towing a Trailer; BUT I am seeing this as a Minimum Maximum. (My Door Jam Sticker) SAE J2807 standard Conventional TWR 9300 Max Tongue Weight 930 Gooseneck TWR 8700 Max Tongue Weight 1305 * Trailer Wt Rating Vehicle Configuration In simplest terms, that means that you must never exceed Combined Weight across all the axles. But you can juggle cargo and weights between axles as long as all the axle limits are satisfied and are within limits. There is flexibility here similar to a small airplane. In a plane, if you need more payload for passengers, you can reduce the fuel load for example. Towing is similar in that you can adjust where the weight is distributed. I’m looking at towable trailers now. What the stickers give are max values of 9300# trailer and 930# tongue. That’s requires a lightly loaded truck to keep the *combined* under its 15,000# combined weight (total on all axles). So, with a 9300# trailer and my truck’s Curb wt of 5100# the Combined must limit cargo in the truck to well below the GVWR of 7000#. That’s 15,000 - 5100 =9,900 and 9900-9300=600. That leaves a 600# maximum in the truck for cargo and people to be able to pull a SAE tested 9300# trailer within limits. Can you keep this limit? Best to make a habit of distributing any cargo into the towable, not the truck. FWIW…

Yo, when dumping your back and gray, pull the gray handle first and just check for leaks. Maybe leave that gray open enough to fill the dump hose and more importantly see if there is a leak. There is an o-ring in the female side of the dump hose and can come out or maybe you were just unkind to the hose itself and have a hole in it. If there is a leak, I’d rather play in the gray water than the dark dookie black water. Once you notice no leaks, stop dumping that now precious gray water and pull the black water handle. Once that that raging black as night water hits the ole honey pot, rinse the black water tank if able. If you don’t have that capability or there is zombies headed your way, close that black water off and go for the gray water dump and hose rinse. I never wear gloves, I just assume I have crap on my hands and wash em with soap. Seeing somebody putting on an old nasty pair of dookie covered gloves makes me want to barf. Anyways, don’t leave the handles pulled out either if you are long term camping and just letting the water run freely into the septic system. Why not you ask, well I learned the hard way, that slow flowing water because the valve is open constantly will allow debris to fill in your slide gate (the gate is actually what your opening when pulling or pushing the gate handle). Think of panning for gold, all the material always goes in the lowest point when the water is slowly going over a “sluice box”, that’s your slide gate a recess acting like a sluice box. So when I went to close the push/pull valve on the opened gray water handle, It was pretty much f’d. Full of sand and whatever else was washed off the ole body parts in the shower. One other tip, don’t use toilet paper or your push button “empty to full” status lights will most likely never indicate empty again because that first dam piece of toilet paper will always be stuck to the sensors and always wick water from below. Just wash your butt in the shower and throw away that first wipe in the trash can. I’ve tried the ice and all kinds of ideas to wash those sensor clean and it doesn’t work. Now my new camper sensor lights work, because I haven’t throw rv toilet paper in the black tank. Also don’t use the black water treatment you buy at Camper World, Walmart or wherever. It’s blue and thick when poured in, instead use good ole pine sole 30% and good ole water 70% mix rate in a two gallon container. If your high speed pooper like me, add 4 ounces of Calgon powder bath soap, I get that at Walmart and I hate Walmart. Ugh. That’s it, 20 years of RV dumping.

I’ll look at the cost of solar like this… If your rig doesn’t have any solar, you are pretty much regulated to staying in campgrounds and RV parks that have electrical services unless you want to be the ass clown running a generator when everybody else is trying to have a nice peaceful time out in the woods relaxing. Solar buys, you freedom to go out and enjoy the world that you want to live in, it allows you to be off grid and not bound to expensive RV parks. What you spend on a modest solar system. You will recoup as a full timer in one year of not staying in RV Parks. I’m not saying that you should consider having a generator as an emergency back up situation. I carry a little small one… A 2 kW, just to charge the battery bank. But it’s a super quiet Honda inverter unit and I can’t remember the last time I had to use it. The only thing that I have added that made a big difference as solar was a diesel heater… That was another next level investment. It gave me another option to conserving propane, allowing me to stay out even longer.

True the manufacturer can get their posted hitch weight using the 10% rule but unless you use something like the CAT scale you have no clue what your hitch weight is. The actual hitch weight depends on how and what you load your trailer with. Putting a small motorbike on the back bumper can reduce your hitch weight. Adding a solar battery bank under your front bed can increase your hitch weight. You won't know unless you do the CAT scale. I couldn't Poo Poo using it.

The best I come up with in my calculation is my pin weight of my 5th wheel is 1520lbs. My truck's payload is max 2000lbs. That means I only have 480lbs available and I think the 480lbs is eaten up by what else I have in the bed of truck and what's in the back seat of truck. ??????

I like the top part of the valance on my Bounder. The boxes down the side, not so much. Their primary purpose is to block out light coming around the side of the nightshade. That's not an issue for me. I haven't done anything to them yet.

@Five2Go I've recently started looking at travel trailers and was told there is an 80% rule in which 20% of your tow vehicle's towing capacity should be subtracted. So if your tow capacity is 5,000 pounds you should only tow trailers with a GVWR of 4,000 pounds. Is that true?
