Those hugs she shared with Brandy and Mary J were so sweet! Whitney was a kind and loving soul, everyone who worked with her said she was lovely, and also a real hard worker.... and of course talented by the bucket load! The world is so much the poorer since her passing. Her and CeCe together were one heck of a vocal pairing!

If you pay attention Whit really was a tom boy lol I was mean that respectfully nothing fem about her body language during this rehearsal o really think she had to do a lot of hiding who she really was 😢❤

I haven't seen this before -- and trust me, I have seen them all. Those are the two the best "and you're halfway thereeeeee" I've heard from her live. This rehearsal sounds even better than the actual GRAMMY performance. She sounded oddly tired that awards night.

There was never a performance of the Waiting to Exhale songs at the Grammys. I think it may have been the soul train awards

Oh! My! God! Honey, this was EVERYTHING. I will always adore RuPaul, but I've found that on occasion I need a reminder of the Ru and Michelle I fell in love with. They're entirely different creatures than they are today and so am I - I was a teenager in smalltown Wisconsin back then, hanging onto every clip of Ru, Deee-Lite, and the Club Kids I could find. Now, I've been working in drag for twenty-nine years myself. It's been a job for a long time and even the things you love lose their sheen when it's an obligation. In those moments when I revisit clips like this, I often find that for one fleeting moment, I'm thirteen and eager to take on the world again. Thank you so much for that. If I could ask: how did you come across this footage and is there more?
@worldofharoldАй бұрын
Thank you for watching! Inspiring to hear what the 'old Ru and Michelle' meant to you way back when. This footage was in my closet with a bunch of other VHS tapes. Finally digitized and uploaded it. Sadly, it's the only footage I have from this show. Enjoy!

This is too cool to see. It says A LOT about how legendary Whitney Houston was, as an artist and performer, that it's her own band backing all of these artists at the Grammy's. I recognize Ricky Minor on bass (Whitney's music director), Bette Sussman (Whitney's piano player from the very beginning, was playing in clubs with Cissy), Wayne Linsey on keyboards, Kirk Whalum on sax, and I think I recognize Pattie Howard and Olivia McClurkin on backing vocals. All legends and geniuses in their own right. And that was Whitney's personal band through the 90s, making her live shows absolute magic. Says a lot.
