It may be brass but it could also be a brass tone coating over zinc. Cut into it with a hack saw and if its yellow inside to it may be brass. Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, a close relative is bronze which is copper and tin.

@@jakertheelaborater2573 that would've been too much trouble. The old van had 2 wire harnesses and the new one had just 1 so trying to make it work would not be time and cost efficient. Was easier to just change the tailgate.

why would she have to pay for the repair? it was a rusted old line, it was going to pop at any time-she just happened to be driving it when it happened.

No. That was a line that under NORMAL driving conditions should've lasted a few more years. She's an extremely nervous driver and hit that brake pedal so hard she almost put it through the firewall. Besides, no one obliged her to pay. I simply asked her if she could cuz I'm a broke home owner and she's well off so she agreed. I do free mechanical work for her so it's kinda like a trade.

@@mixalopg I never use a dynamic rope for rigging, always a static rigging line. And the rope depends on the load, so 3/4" line or 1" line for big stuff
