You should put cardboard or plywood between them cuz as you run down the road they wiggle into each other getting loose

In aluminum?????? How terrible, one brake or impact and the aluminum breaks like butter

You used way more metal for secure than the actual coil

I think you should put another chain men just in case😂

I worked with western express for a good 10 years plus.not all locations load slinky coils from a dock. Most of them get loaded from the side. Coil racks and timber I used on the center coils only. I center strapped the center coils the first set and last set of coils. It made it easier to butterfly strap them and made it easier to have them pull towards the center coil

Thanks for your video. Just pointing out one safety issue, one should not raise the landing gear before finishing the inspection.

The strap ends are on the outside of the rub rails. The hooks should go to the inside and hook to the outside so only steel shows on the outside in case you turn over the straps won’t be cut. I am mealy the messenger and speak from years of harassment from DOT.

One point he didn't bring up was that your X chain retains it's entire working load limit. Your "horseshoe" or "c chain" only allows half the WLL, since it connects back to the same side of the trailer. You can technically throw the correct amount of chains, but if they're secured incorrectly, then you would legally be undersecured. Hope this helps

Maybe they should teach their incompetent drivers to stop when the police try to pull them over or better yet maybe that should stop hiring unsafe pos foreigners that can’t read write and speak English putting American drivers in danger

So far, I see your video, and it is the inky ine who explains why there is a need for too many chains, I'm glad the old school still keeping the good practices ❤❤

I have hauled hundreds of those aluminum coils from one side of the country to the other and never placed more than 3 straps per coll I used cardboard edge protectors that were provided by the shipper in short no need in all that overkill unless you drive reckless their no need for that many straps

lol i was there this woman was a sweet heart=), and if your wondering you always have to tarp in the winter salt and what not. and i couldn't use straps cause the Ingot was still hot enough to melt straps when it came off the huge front end loader

Just remember drivers you can never over secure your load but you only get to under secure your load once!

Can the chains touch each other where they cross (make the X) the other chain in the middle ?

It also helps with forward movement. Should be used for all loads when a header board or bulkhead is not available.

How did you load them?
@mcjasper3 ай бұрын
Securement + Defensive Driving = Safe transport. Trainers please complete the equation. 1. Links inline, no twists. 2. 1” Thread exposed ratchet binders. 3. Before you tarp (if possible) do “Shake n Bake”hard stop (5mph) in the yard. Check and adjust your binders. Luckily most yards are like minefields so if it’s tight out the gate it will be tight on the road.
@vicpetrishak77053 ай бұрын
Doesn’t the binder coming in contact with the load place the screw of the ratchet binder in a bind ?

The strap webbing is being crushed onto the chain pocket . The front dolly should have 4 chains securing the dolly . Two pulling forward , 2 pulling rearward . Just my opinion .

It’s awesome that they want to share knowledge. But here’s a piece of wisdom. None of those straps are gonna do a bit of good if you hook your hook to the DOT tape rail. (NOT LEGAL)
@jppenny46504 ай бұрын
If you have a rub rail with DOT tape you still may secure it the way they are. It is not illegal it is recommended. A DOT officer in Colorado tried to write me a ticket for this and his supervisor corrected him.
