i have only sold my metals once: a 10 oz silver Valcambi bar to a LCS 45 min away (my nearest). looking back, i did not need to do that but felt motivated to learn how the exchange occurs in my area. no receipts, no paperwork, cash, no questions. it was a pleasant experience that i hope not to repeat too often. but who the fcuk knows when the real need to sell could be. could be tomorrow or in 2037. i hope that by then folks barter. we were once good at it, and then we were not. ah well, i can tell you how much silver i will give you for a bag of apples. can the apple vendor tell me how much silver the bag of apples is worth today in this location? i think so. i digress, like this conversation did. haha. $tack

I think you're both right... in certain circumstances. If you want to maximize the money you make then absolutely sell privately. The drawback to that is it's more hassle and takes longer normally. If you want speed then sell to a coin/bullion shop. The downside there is that you're going to get less for it but for a smooth transaction you can't beat it. This applies to bullion, mostly. If you're selling semi-numismatic modern coins in most shops you will get a tiny fraction of what they are worth so you almost need to sell those privately. At least this is my experience

I sold my gold that I refined a few months ago to buy my Worker’s Comp. insurance. It was really hard to let it go, but I remembered that that’s why I have it for situations like this. It really hurt me that they only paid 83% easy $$350 for them

Don't sell to anyone now for fiat. Inflation & money printing will erode fiat value. Convert gold to silver now to get higher returns and when silver moves up in relative terms you can convert back for much more gold than you currently hold. So, why will Silver appreciate in value relative to Gold? Let me explain just a bit .. Everybody looks at the Gold:Silver ratio, and at over 84:1 when Silver is only mined at 7 or 8:1 versus Gold may indicate Silver as the best value commodity in the metals market. But, there's more to consider: Take the time to look at the Copper: Silver ratio. Last year mined copper was 26,547,000 tons and Silver was 26,000 tons. Therefore the mined ratio of Copper: Silver is 1021: 1. The price of Silver today is @ $1,016,000 per ton. ($1,016 a kilo). Now do the maths: divide Silver price by the mined copper ratio (of 1,021) to get an “indicator” price for copper in a ‘like for like’ comparison to mined supply: Then, you might expect ($1,016,000/1021) = $995 to be the current price for a ton of Copper (not being a precious metal like Silver or Gold?) But it isn't. Not even close ! Copper today is much, much higher @ $9,507 !! Silver is so fundamentally undervalued that no other metal offers better potential for price growth ! But yet again, there's even more to consider (much more): The growth in demand for Silver as an industrial metal is unmatched. Silver has been in a deficit since 2021 (greater demand than supply) used in over 300 industrial applications including the MASSIVE expansion of Solar (PV) that could require all mined Silver in the next decade alone, but also the demand for electronics, EV market, 5G, Water purification, huge ('classified' and unreported by the Silver Institute) demand for Military & Space applications also Medical applications (microbial properties) and so forth, etc, etc. Now this doesn't include the other non industrial demand factors for Silver including Jewellery & Silverware. But there's even more to consider: Silver IS A MONETARY ASSET like Gold and Demand for investment in Coins & Bullion Bars is growing internationally. Particularly by the huge populations in India and China (both with 1.4+ Billion people) that are increasingly buying Silver as a more affordable entry point than Gold to accumulate precious metals. Now consider that Russia has said in the last few days that its central bank will start to buy Silver as a reserve. Now that alone is a big news event. but, there's even more to consider: The Elephants in the room are. 1) Inflation (Silver has been for thousands of years a reliable hedge against inflation. 2) High national debt (US debt clock is approaching $35.7 Trillion) and the interest is getting to $1 Trillion. 3) The Bubble in both the stock markets and commercial real estate market & 4) Money printing is deflating the value of fiat dollars. But there is more to consider, so lets just's explore a bit further. consider: Size of Silver market is relatively small. More investors = Higher Demand & Returns. consider: Silver price manipulation cannot continue indefinitely. End of manipulation = higher returns. consider: Silver is a byproduct of other mining & significant increases in Silver supply is NOT possible consider: Mined supply is falling & remaining silver is at lower grades, deeper & more expensive to mine. consider: Most Silver (unlike gold) is consumed, or locked away & uneconomical to recycle. Now, presenting a comment here is not like I have afforded the time to pursue publishing a white paper with proper collaboration of 'fair' industry expert inputs including full ("non-adjusted") reference materials without prejudice to legal standing towards any account of manipulation as previously determined in effect or whether such as may be alleged or suspected be determined other than in accordance with due diligence conducted by appropriate regulatory authorities. But despite & in conclusion, Silver is surely the most valuable asset to safeguard wealth & potential future gains.

Regarding 2:51, for those who are unaware, the infamous "Superbills" were counterfeit $100 bills that were so convincingly deceptive that they were virtually indistinguishable from genuine $100 bills. That is why on October 8, 2013, the new $100 bills were released featuring advanced anti-counterfeiting security features. Similarly the $50, $20, $10 & $5 bills were also redesigned with updated anti-counterfeiting security features. Furthermore, people who still use anti-counterfeit marker pens would be surprised to realize that those pens are no longer reliable. This is because counterfeiters nowadays who print on paper know that they can simply spray over their bogus cash with a clear sealant. This trick using a clear spray coating acts as a protective barrier and if marked with an anti-counterfeit pen, then a yellow streak is left thereby misleading it is authentic cash instead of leaving a telltale black streak which would indicate a fake banknote.

When I was an early stacker I was a dumbass and touched some of my coins. Now I don't know which are still bu and which aren't. I presume coin shops pay more for bu, should I just tell them they're all bu and let them tell me if I'm wrong?

I would try to sell first to my stacker friends. I normally go to LCS but I'd rather give my friends a chance first. I've dealt with most of them already in buying and trade.

Nah. P2P too much hassle. They dont show up at the police parking lot, you waste your and your buddy's time. Go online, get the price, get the mailing labels boom you get your money in abt 1-2 weeks. Dont have to go into smoke-filled LCS where they lowball you, unless you are their 'buddy'.
