If I sat and silently stared at the video you would say I didn't react. I react and talk on the spot. I don't wait until it's over. I watched the video over again and I didn't talk too much.

Fluffhead was the brother of one of the songwriters (a guy called the Dude of Life); sadly, Fluffhead died of cancer. You would never know any of this from the lyrics. This tune is amazing to see live!

If you like this kinda music you should check out Joanna Wang if you haven't already. She's from Taiwan and she makes similarly crazy manic music (especially on albums like "House of Bullies". Also check out the Israeli Franz Yuzef (a.k.a. Yossi Elazar, you can find him here on youtube as well as bandcamp), another musician i nspired by Cardiacs who makes insane music.

Stereo stores used Martin Denny and Arthur Lyman records to sell hi-fi systems. Sounds way better in stereo. The South Pacific influenced music and culture were influential in the decades following WWII with thousands of servicemen who served in that theater. Probably moreso on the west coast than east of the rockies. If you want to reorient after Quiet Village, listen to Tiki Torches at Twilight by David Lindley.

Exactly! The 5 mid period albums - Mystery To Me, Kiln House, Bare Trees, Then Play On and Future Games - are great, innovative and imaginative, often sublime albums that are artistically superior to what FM created after the American cocaine twins infiltrated the band and cashed in on what FM had done over many years. It`s like the Beatles were invaded by Abba. The mid period albums kept alive the amazing guitar styling and sounds of Peter Green and integrated it into the music of the 70s. The period of decline, Rumours et al. , abandoned genius and replaced it with emotional cheer-leading. Aside from Santana, the only band to use the sweet tuning of Peter Green afterwards that I`ve noticed was Radiohead.

That unique "thing" you didn't know what to call is called glottal catch. It's a series of really fast transition between falsetto and normal voice using vocal cord muscle. It comes with years of practice and of course the pure eastern musical talent.

This is pretty much the intro to the album, so it really eases you in at the start. But the album - like the song - really goes places. I'd recommend checking out some more of it. You could try "Dog's Life" for a something with more groove. And while I'm recommending things ... Poly-Math are another fantastic UK prog band. They're a bit heavier but without sounding metal. "Velociter" from their last album is a good one to get an idea of their sound.

Can was a fantastic band that created timeless music. It hasn't aged at all, and their sound is unique. Held together by the mesmerising steady groove from Jaki LiebezeitÄs drums, a whole world of unususal sounds unfolds, garnred by two unusual singers - Malcolm Mooney from 1968 to 1971, and Damo Suzuki from 1972 until 1974. On their later recordings, the vocals were shared by Michael Karoli and Irmin Schmidt. They were outstanding musicians - Irmin Schmidt and Holger Czukay had studied avantgarde music with Karlheinz Stockhausen, Jaki Liebezeit had a background in free Jazz. Every piece of music of these guys is worth cheking out. I heard them in 1973 the first time, when I was 13, and they just blew my mind.
