If you look at all GI tries in the State of Origin, it was JT's involvement....so JT is truly the GOAT

If they want to talk about immortals they should just induct the entire QLD backline from this era

Such a powerful player of his days in rugby league. A model to young people who love rugby league.

Top Player. 8:25 is almost definitely a sin bin/send off if it happened in a game today. Back then Gus loved a bit of shoulder to head: 'BANG, get that into ya'. Great hustle from JT though, that's just how the game was.

The heart of JT just boggles my mind. He is always near the play in case he is needed and more often than not, he is needed and it results in points or a repeat set. What an inspirational player.

And to think he actually should have been playing for NSW. thank God for QLD he was on our side. One of the greatest athletes we've ever seen in the game. Started out as probably 93 or 94 kg, long, lanky with spindly legs but incredibly fast. Ended up at about 110 kg and maybe the strongest player in the game, but lost a little speed. That fend on Gasnier. Game 1 of that series Gasnier gave him a bath an tore QLD apart. Game 2, Fatty Vautin addressing the team before the game said here's what we're going to do. GI spoke up and said "give me the ball". That's exactly what they did and he made Gasnier and NSW look second rate.

As a kid in 2012, playing rugby at the local community grounds, no body cared to be anyone else. Everyone wanted to play Fullback as Ben Barber. I mean the closest in my memory to a standout season was Jarryd Hayne in 2009, but Barber's season was imo the most prime any player has ever been.
