@@maricelharbord3475 hi, thanks for watching! All of the campsites have a fire pit. There is probably a day use area with fire pits but I don’t know that for sure. There might also be a fire ban on right now so it might be best to call and check.

Awesome tour, thanks. I used to own a 77 Westfalia before kids, and now looking to get back into it. We are looking for an 86-91 version, so this was perfect. Also, your Thule rack is for SUP not kayaks. I have had one since they came on the market, and they work great. Hope to see you on the road 😊

Man, the work you have taken on to make your wife happy by buying her a VW Vanagon is legion. Take a bow. I have an ‘84 Vanagon that I now have something like $70k in. Yours sounds even more than this. I still love mine as I’m am sure you and your wife do. 15:29 I hope your van adventure are as fun for ya’ll as mine have been. If you’re ever in Russellville give name a call. If I could get front seats with those armrests I could die a happy man.

I hope you enjoyed your visit to Edinburgh and Scotland. I only picked up on the fact you’re Canadian when you said “out”. Many years ago I worked in a large city centre hotel and had the pleasure of meeting many people from Canada. You’re quite brave taking the wee one with you. In recent years Edinburgh has become (like so many places) a tourist attraction all year round, whereas it was mainly just in summer when it became so busy.

@@rootsandwingstravel May I suggest the Borders, including Dumfries and Galloway? That’s a region often overlooked by visitors; one with its own culture and history - generally free of tartan kitsch and bagpipes. You’ll find many small towns and villages; good food and whisky distilleries too. I live in north east Scotland and that’s well worth exploring too: the counties of Angus, Aberdeenshire, Banff and Buchan have spectacular coastlines and have so many castles and distilleries you’re spoilt for choice. Kind regards.

Very unsafe to be that close to a mating herd....these are 1000lb wild animals. Your captain and guide should have gotten you all out of the water or if it was going on before you got on, should never have placed their guests in a dangerous situation. It's in manatee manners not to approach a mating herd. Especially with a very young child, one tail slap could have been fatal.
@rootsandwingstravel
@rootsandwingstravel Жыл бұрын
Thanks for this information. I wish we would have been warned of what was taking place with the manatees. It makes me think perhaps our crew were more focused on giving us the experience rather than the protection of the manatees and snorkelers.

"Manatee Manners for Swimmers" from the US Fish and Wildlife Service...kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4GWdqWcaLCWaLs "Although manatees aren't aggressive, approaching a mating herd can be dangerous". They are 1,000+ pounds and very powerful. I suppose your guide told you that the manatees were harmless and wouldn't hurt your baby.
@rootsandwingstravel
@rootsandwingstravel Жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing this. I do think it’s so important for anyone who is going in the water to know the rules and be respectful of the manatees, so thank you for sharing the link above. We were told over and over again that manatees do not have the “aggressive gene” and that there would be no harm done. And with that, when we had our daughter in the water we stayed near the boat, were focused just on swimming with her and were not snorkelling or following the group to where the manatees were at the time.

18:20 LOL as soon as this came on I was like...is that Fergie's? Nice little convenience / bakery shop. It's not the best in Canmore but probably the best bargain for good quality pastries. On both our visits to Canmore we grabbed our breakfast pastries / loaves of banana bread and stuff from here. If you like Valbella give Bohemian Smoked Meats a try, they have some good lunch food and great soups. They also smoke their own fish / meat although to be honest I didn't care for the sausage I picked up.

I can totally relate to the carseat issue. In 2013 we took DD to WDW (she wasn't quite 1) and we flew from LAX to MCO - we gate checked the carseat and stroller and they both somehow ended up in MIA. We also stayed at POFQ, and went to what was then just called "Downtown Disney" - we didn't have a carseat or stroller, so we ended up carrying her around (she was too little to rent a stroller). We were doing one night at POFQ and then were boarding the Disney Fantasy the next day, so we were frantic about not getting it in time. The POFQ team was amazing and when the airline finally brought our stuff at 2 a.m. to the resort, the resort team brought it to our room.

The Elephant House is closed because there was a fire in the building and it suffered water and smoke damage. Their insurers have agreed to pay for restoration, but they want a structural survey of the building first to ensure that it's safe. Unfortunately the firm that owns the building housing the cafe and other things has gone bankrupt, which makes getting even simple things done a long, drawn-out process.
