I watched Clannad as a small child after seeing it in the library and checking the DVD box set out for the month. I couldn't get through it without crying every episode, and even now like. Twelve years later I'm scared to go back and watch it. But like a lot of people, this song hasn't left my mind, and I distinctly remember sobbing while this song played trying to recover for the next episode 🍡

So my mind works like I rarely remember any of the plot of anything I've ever seen in my life - goes for anime, live action movies and TV shows -, only the feelings left in me after watching. The Clannad animes are the same. I saw the Clannad animes more than 10 years ago, and I remember nothing of the plot, just the feeling that I felt like my heart was being torn out of my body. Yet, I clearly remember the beginning of this song, it's always been popping into my mind randomly, but only the ~Dango, dango, dango, dango, dango daikazoku~ part, and now listening to this after 10+ years, without having any actual memories of what happened in the anime, I'm now simply at the verge of bursting into tears. I wanted to rewatch the animes so many times, but emotionally I'm still not ready. Not sure if I ever will be.

This song is so deep. One of the best animes ever produced hands down. If you think you can get through this show like any other anime you are sorely mistaken and be prepared to have your heart shattered put into a blender and then shattered over and over. I watch a ton of anime. I'm 38 years old. Lived in Japan for two years and I thought I had seen some really sad emotional anime is. Until I saw Clannad. The soundtrack, The acting, the animation and the story, absolutely unrivaled. I can't even really think of any real live action TV show or movie that has made me cry like this. I have seen the entire series all the way through about four times now. It hits me hard every single time like a rock. This song. This show. This experience absolutely broke me.
