My main problem with male dogs in general all my life has been with their random leg/toy humping, and the fact that sometimes their penises get "wet" from pee or whatever else, and they touch us accidentally. Females are just cleaner in my opinion.

I love my female Shiba. She’s an absolute terror but she has such a personality! Her screams make me laugh all the fucking time. She so ridiculous that I can’t help but giggle. I never trained her because I liked her disposition. I liked that she was disobedient shit. So when she finally came when I called, and she does it all the time now, I feel so happy. No treats. No training. Just wanted to come. Best feel ever!

It’s true. I can never get mad at my Shiba. I usually just laugh. Such a personality! This dog literally tried to murder my other dog ( I jest) and I just laughed because that scream is just too cute.

I agree with all your tips except I would never use a harness in the beginning stages of teaching the pup to walk properly on a leash. A choker collar WHEN USED CORRECTLY is the best way to go. A harness makes it easier for them to pull. You don't want your dog to take you for a walk. You want the dog to walk with you and heel. It's easy and the fastest way to teach a dog to walk on a leash. As your leash training use words like heel, walk nice, stop, sit, come. then you can incorporate them to a harness if you choose. I'm sure there are many videos on here to teach a dog with a choker. I could literally take my shiba for a walk without a leash if I thought it was safe..but dogs being dogs, especially shiba, I would never trust it. But she never leaves my side or tries to run away. She stays in step with me.

I have one, a white/cream one with brown eyes that’s incredibly sweet and sociable ! But I actually understand why people don’t like Shibas. I got daily to a dog park and almost all the Shibas I see aren’t sociable at all, not playing with anyone and quickly becoming agressive

That is so Shiba! I have had two. The last one passed passed a few months ago, black and tan, the pumpkin one about 2 years ago. Challenging but rewarding dogs.

I just got my first shiba puppy. Even at 12 weeks, she is starting not liking to be held

Since I have mobility issues that makes it extremely difficult for me to bend over, I have started using a longer leash to play games with my shiba inu. It has helped me with her excessive energy.
