This incident is long over but just wanted to say the number of times she talked about creating "better games for the chess fans" shows her class... Maybe this is why she can't get to the very top... too focused on other people rather than herself...

Men and women are separated in tennis since the female body on average has less muscle than the male one so it's not fair for them to play against each other. So mixed doubles exists in tennis to force playing men and women. The fact they have mixed doubles in chess implies they think women are inherently disadvantaged at chess, so making sure the teams have one woman and one man keeps the teams fair. But in this day and age it should be common knowledge that women are just as smart as men and so there should be no need for mixed doubles chess. Doubles chess suffices.

If I understand correctly, after the second claim, black should simply have played one move, stopped the clock and claimed for a draw? In fact, he could have even played the second move and stopped the clock before white captured with mate? But instead he didn't think he had to? Maybe the arbiter said something like 'you must play one more move before it is a draw'?

Not funny at all, as the commentators mention clearly. Not only players can blunder, but also arbiters, that's what happened here. Both draw claims from Flores have been made correctly. He was having the move, stopped the clock and called the arbiter. The first draw claim after 139. Rf1 was correctly refused, only 47 moves each without capture or pawn move have been played. The second draw claim after 142. Ke6 was incorrectly refused. Exactly 50 moves each without capture or pawn move have been played. Last capture or pawn move was 92. Kxd4. So we have move sequence Black/White from 92 Black / 93 White up to and including 141 Black / 142 White, exactly fifty moves each. If you don't believe me, you should believe a FM (Umumba_thereal): www.chess.com/news/view/karjakin-wins-world-blitz-championship-9527?page=10, "but I meant the 2nd claim that should have been accepted without any further move ". Moreover, after resuming the game, it seemed he applied again for the draw, only without stopping the clock. I wonder if he filed a complaint after the game, for such a complaint must result in a draw. The game is stated as a win for Adly, so maybe no complaint was made. On top of all, there are two threefold repetitions in the game. Of course, this is impossible to claim, but Flores defended well and deserved the draw. After 116.Rh5, Flores could have claimed threefold repetition (after 116.Rh5, 114.Kc6, 112.Rh5). Notably, the 116th move from Flores also results in threefold repetition (after 116...Nc3, 114...Nc3, 112...Nc3), so Adly could have claimed, who had no interest, of course. To check, one can click on the 116th move by White in www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1857800. It will print "Three time repetition claimable, Black to move Last: 116.Rh5".
