When i laminate the paper in single side, how i can obtain flattened paper instead of curled paper?
@Skandacor20 күн бұрын
Hello @l00me, the tips that Neil mentions in this video should help you get flat sheets. But another thing that affects the curl on your sheets is the thickness of the film that you're using. E.g. if you apply a 10mil film to one side of a sheet, it will curl up. So, for best results when doing single-sided lamination, we recommend using films that are no thicker than 3.0mil, as well as using the decurler bar on your laminator to flatten those sheets. Let us know if that works for you!

Can i buy a laminated print in gold foil?
@Skandacor9 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment, @v-mandaboss8509. We don't sell finished prints. But if your question is if it's possible to laminate over gold foil, the answer is yes! Especially if you choose a matte laminate film, the effect should be a subtle gold shimmer. If you're located in North America and need supplies or if you have further questions, feel free to reach out to us at [email protected]

Hand feeding is a deal breaker for me.
@Skandacor Жыл бұрын
Hello @jojomascalero Thanks for commenting. We hear that from many clients too, so you're not alone! We've found hand-feeding well-suited for shops that do short runs - where setting up the automatic feeder will be more time-consuming than hand-feeding a couple sheets into the laminator. But it will depend on your shop and the volumes you run. For longer runs, we recommend using the PODTopic Auto (kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4HLZ6qnf9aki9k), or one of the machines in the popular Bagel series (www.skandacor.com/shop?search=bagel+laminator&order=) if your volumes are high enough to justify it. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions about which machine will work best for you! You can reach us at [email protected]

If you're new to sleeking and the print embellishment market, though, we recommend starting out with a smaller entry-level machine to test the waters, and you can upgrade depending on the market demand. I have a question, what paper you must use for a good Foiling ?
@Skandacor3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question! We discuss this in more detail around 15:25 in this video, but in a nutshell, when it comes to paper the smoother the better, with coated stocks preferred. We understand that a lot of clients want the specialty feel of uncoated stock, so in that case you can either apply laminate to only the side that you need to do foiling on, or do multiple hits to build up your layer of toner in the pits and valleys of the sheet. If you have a question about a specific application, though, we'll be happy to help. You can contact us at [email protected]

If you want a clear foil, after putting down an image, then soft touch film - would you put an image in yellow toner and the clear foil in the sleeker?
@Skandacor20 күн бұрын
Hello @peterkratoska4524, You'd print your image in it's regular CMYK colors and then run the clear foil over it in the sleeker. And to be clear, you'll want to use the Cast finishes for this step, as they are transparent. Let us know if this helps. If you need further clarification, reach out to us at [email protected] and we'd be happy to help.

@@Skandacor thanks for the reply. I guess I'm thinking, what if I want to have spot clear foil - on just parts of an image not the whole image.
@Skandacor20 күн бұрын
@@peterkratoska4524 Yes, you absolutely can. And you were correct in your initial steps. Print the entire image, except the areas you'd like to add spot gloss to > Laminate with SOFTpro laminate > Overprint the areas you'd like to highlight with SLEEKpro gloss > Run that through the sleeker. That will only add the spot gloss effect to the exposed toner. @Skandacor3 жыл бұрын
Hello, we carry multiple machines that are suitable for sleeking, depending on a couple factors. If you're new to sleeking and the print embellishment market, we often recommend starting with a laminator that you already have in-house, or one of our entry-level machines and testing the waters with that. The obvious next-step for our customers is often an upgrade to a larger, faster machine like the Bagel laminator shown in this video. Generally though, the price of a laminator/sleeking device can range from $3,000 to $300,000, depending on your market demand for specialty finishing. If you're interested in more info on our machines and which one would best suit you, please reach out to us at [email protected] or give us a call at 1.888.820.9020.

Can it work on hard thermal covers
@Skandacor3 жыл бұрын
Hello, SLEEKpro works on digital toner print on most smooth surfaces. While it may work on your thermal hardcovers, we'd have to test it to be sure. The fact that they're thermal is a bit concerning because the heat from the SLEEKpro process may activate them. We're happy to test, though! Reach out to us at [email protected] to arrange.

Hello Do you have some tips about how to have sucessfull job done. Because I am on a HP indigo 5500 but have so many issues. Generally my sleeking have so many gaps on the sheet (letters, corners etc). It seems that the ink does not stick weel on the paper, even if I use qualified paper. Thank you.
@Skandacor3 жыл бұрын
Hello Jerome, Indigo’s tend to be challenging to use with SLEEKpro technology when compared to dry toner. But with the right setup and stock, they can be used successfully with amazing results. Here are some pointers to try: • 4 hits of ink required at a minimum. Up to 8 hits may be necessary to achieve a sufficient buildup of ink. • Each hit should be at 100%, so 4 hits will achieve 400% ink coverage • Yellow is the most aggressive compared to other colors and sticks best to difficult stocks • The key to avoiding picking is making sure the foil doesn’t pull from the ink until the stripper bar. - Make sure pull rollers are turned off - Print a ½” wide border around the whole sheet to help carry it through - Minimal take up roller tension, just enough so that it keeps pulling and the foil separates from the sheet at the stripper bar • Indigo Digital Ink has to be cured before sleeking - At least 8 hours when sleeking on paper - If you try immediately, it likely will pull the hits away from each other. If you cannot wait 8 hours, give it as long as possible, the results at 2 hours are better than not waiting at all. - If overprinting on top of foil or difficult laminate it needs to cure for at least 16 hours before sleeking again or any other process • Overprinting on top of foil can reduce blanket life span. - Recommend running 10 sheets, then a blank cleaner sheet followed by 10 more, etc. • The inks need to be rebuilt periodically or they won’t adhere to the paper or to each other. We suggest doing one color a week so each is rebuilt once a month. This video from our Print2Finish event should also help: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmaVhGCtoc99rbs Try these tips and if you are still struggling let us know. You can email [email protected] to schedule a virtual or in-person call.

What is the best toner printer to print up to 24 inches wide for foiling? This uses 24- inch wide foil rolls? Thanks!
@Skandacor4 жыл бұрын
Hello Patrina, We don't recommend one device over another as we don't sell printers and they are continually changing. However we've seen good results on all major brands of dry toner printers. Regarding the length, you'll need to make sure that the printer you choose can handle the 24" sheet length you are looking for. Most toner printers only handle up to 13"x19" in the main trays and require add-on feeders or a bypass tray to feed a 24" long sheet. As for our foil, the standard size is 12" but we can produce up to 24" wide foil. Reach out to our sales team at [email protected] for more information and assistance on getting the right equipment for your needs.

Are die's a standard cut or can you order custom ones? Cost?
@Skandacor4 жыл бұрын
Hello Kip, thanks for your question. While we do have some standard dies available, most will be 100% custom to match your specific job. There are a number of very good flexible die manufacturers that can turn around dies in 24 hours. Simply provide them the die line and call out any special features (kiss cut, perf, tri-cut). Dies run from $250 and up depending complexity and the length of the die line.

@Peter, you're absolutely right. While rotary die cutters are ideal for long runs, we recommend using a digital die cutter for short runs. That way, there's no die cost or die changeovers, and every job going through the machine can be different. Qn: Do I need to rethread the film each time I am to use it after having the machine off for afew shop closing hours the day before? Or I could leave it remain threaded, switch on and wait til it comes to temp?
@Skandacor5 жыл бұрын
Hello Sharil, thank you for your question. There is no need to rethread the film each time you turn on the machine. You can leave the film threaded in the machine overnight and while it is warming up. Simply turn it on the next time you need it, and with its quick warm-up time, you’ll be laminating in less than 7 minutes! The only exception to this is if you are using our NYpro films. Nylon tends to absorb moisture in the air, so when using NYpro always take it off the machine when finished and wrap it up tightly in the provided foil bag, making sure to seal the opening with tape.
