@hamzahammami22 True true I was just stating what he achieved in line with the video but you're right it was calendar year. I still think Suarez individually was better than Ronaldo in 2016 but Cr7 did get the two biggest trophies.

Messi scored 49 goals, Neymar 42, and yes, Neymar deserved that ball since he was the best in the Champions League and that is taken into account because the two had exactly the same titles, Neymar scored goals in the group stage, quarterfinals Semifinals and in the final, Messi did nothing in the final and in the semis, FIFA takes that into account. 🤣

And don't say that Messi didn't play anything in the final because yes he had 0 goals and 0 assists but he was the key to all 3 goals, and dont forget what he did to Boateng in Semi-Finals, and in the first match with Bayern he scored 2 goals and 1 assist, practically closing the two-legged match.

We are talking about the ucl where goals and titles are taken into account and Neymar scored the most important goals, scoring hactricks and doubles, Messi only scored a goal in the group stage, round of 16 and 2 in the semifinal.

I'm barcelona fan but it's not always about the numbers barcelona got knockout by atlectico in the quarter finals in the champions league and Uruguay didn't even past to the quarter finals in the copa america so that littlerally decreased his chances if barcelona had been gone to champions league final maybe he would've won it but i see your point.

Some people might have thought that it is easier to score goals with a Messi, Neymar and Iniesta around you.... These awards are always a kind of politics . (they probably also would consider that Suarez was somewhat controversial as well. with the 3 'lovebites' , the Patrice Evra incident ...). In 2010 Wesley Sneijder directed Inter Milan to the Champions League win and was instrumental in the Netherlands to reach the Worldcup final (and as WC topscorer !). He was clearly THE best player of the year . But the Ballon d'or went to Iniesta. Of course over his career Iniesta was a better player than Sneijder, but not in 2010.

@@epicuser4513 Oh yeah. my mistake. Iniesta won the 'Uefa best player in Europe' (also open to non europeans) in 2012. There is a lot more variation in Uefa Best Player awards : Modric, Virgil van Dijk, Haaland, Lewandowski , Jorginho ... This gives a much better representation of who 'performed' best in those years/seasons !! It only stresses how the Fifa trophy is more a political and 'Status' award , rather than about the actual performance in the year. To be honest, I doubt if the coach & captain of the teams of Indonesia and Bangladesh have a good view on which player plays the best football (in the European top leagues, where the best players are..) !! It is a bit like when the captain of the Luxemburg basketball team can give a vote on the best basketballer ...
