Thank you for putting this together. Good clear instructions, I'm sure it will help me as I noticed I have a tendency of sinking the tail a lot and to avoid it have to stay at the center of the board.

Any recommendations on Board selection? I'm a surfer and white water SUPer, and want a SUP surf board to mix things up (i own a 9ft mal, 7ft mid size, 5,6 fish). Not sure if it makes sense to go for a SUP long board or more of a performance board? I'm 5,6 80kg.

In my opinion, the drop on a wave is the best part, and when you use a SUP, you lose the thrill. Ride a longboard instead. It's so much more fun. There's only two reasons to ride a SUP in waves. 1. You're afraid of sharks. 2. You need a handicapped to help you compete for waves.

Au Contraire amigo. I talked to a former naval aviator who now sups and he swears taking the drop on a standup is akin to a carrier launch in his F14.

Great vid! When should you move the feet with respect to the wave eg step 3 when the board is only going down the face?
@maukalodge
@maukalodge 6 ай бұрын
Great question. I personally move to step 3 just as the wave starts to lift my boards tail, so once you feel that push from the wave, just slide your back foot back (widening your stance) to surf stance, while mantaining your weight over your front leg (SUPER IMPORTANT not to miss the wave, has explained on step 4) which allows you to keep on paddling and then taking it with ease. Step 4 comes only once the board is going and you initiate the drop (the moment you feel you're dropping and that you dont need to paddle anymore to get it going, which occurs on the first third of the wave face).

I have a 42” long board and my paddle surfboard is 9’4”. Thinking of buying surfskate truck adapters instead of a whole new surfskate. My goal is off season improvement. Is 42” too long?

Hi how long is the shaft you are using for this exercise compared to your normal paddle?
@maukalodge
@maukalodge Жыл бұрын
I have no idea, its an adjustable one. Short enough that you will be able to compress a lot and lean on your turns without dragging the ‘paddle’ on the floor.
