Never try to ring on 4 as quickly as you would on 6. Pace them out and hold them up if you want decent striking.

I quite like these. Although people say they are bland, I can see why. But they have a very soft and cute tone to them which I like. Also they are slightly sharp of F which makes them very musical too!

How does anybody ringing in there keep track of when they have to pull their own bells? Apart from when the bells have actually sounded? Because of all the echos, they sound like they're colliding into one another the whole time, the more bells being rung.
@explodinglemons20823 жыл бұрын
The lead (treble) as you see at 0:20 pulls off the bell as the last bell (tenor) to the left of them (as you look at it) catches the rope (sally) as it comes down. The ringers then follow one another pulling off slightly after the person in front of them (you can see this to the left side of the video at this time too). It's all about the rope sight and watching other ringers, a good ear helps but isn't necessary.

Nice light six!? I bloody hated every second of these. Every attempt we made to slow down, the bells wouldn't have it. Stupidly odd-struck, bits of odd thin wall box section bearing "plates" and a mishmash of random bearings placed about. Perhaps would be better with some light remedial work! They do sound pleasant enough but we certainly struggled here. Especially when my rope snagged on the beam whilst dodging in 4-5 bringing the bell partway down. 🤣
@timmeh15074 жыл бұрын
Is the sound of the bells piped down through speakers or something? The acoustics are very odd.

Ooh yes! The infamous long, un-guided, absolutely fantastic sounding octave. This band seemed to tackle these quite well, no clashes, no slip-ups, I'd love to see / hear Devon Style Call Changes attempted on these.

Never rang there, but what a glorious sounding peal. Pity that Liverpool Cathedral is such an accoustic dissaster, not because of the bells but the oversize d belfry and its crap accoustics. Would be nice to hezr them butt fixing the belfryy acoustics would be expensive to say the least
@dlt91226 жыл бұрын
They sound good but are hard work. They are playing a bit with the acoustics at the cathedral-you tune into them. In terms of go, the cathedral are better I would say.
