People natural instinct is to resist. Typically escaping submissions is the art of not resisting. Don't pull away from the submission. Find a way to lean into it and then out of it. This is a great example of that.

I think he means make sure your body gets perpendicular to his or else you will get swept which makes sense. Once your body gets perpendicular, you can break the close guard and get side control.

Great lesson. Good ideas! Keep'em coming. ALso, everyone will see better if both of you have the belt on and not let the gi hanging on the ground, covering exactly the mechanics of what we're supposed to see.
