+henrik svee Here is my approach: I "transcribe" it for me only first, very fast, loose, inaccurate, and just certain parts of the melody because my primary focus of attention is to internalize and memorize the melody first. Eventually I would write the chord changes if I plan to incorporate the song into my songlist. Finally, I buy the original score and compare what I did , which is a very important part of the process. patmetheny.shop.musictoday.com/Product.aspx?cp=13944_29042&pc=4YAM57 Resuming: play what you hear, take notes of certain places, if necessary and then compare with the original.
