I dont really know what im talking about but just my observation seems like: the lefreQue is filling out frequency ranges that are lost in specific ranges of the instrument I.e in lower register upper harmonics are focused in and in higher register a more grounded tone is produced (maybe by decreasing volume of upper harmonics??) I have no clue. Im considering buying one but if anyone agrees or disagrees with me on this lmk

Lets analyze the B flat long note, 4 beats. Using special app, you can see harmonics, if you dont hear them. Let's pick a whole note and analyze it - B flat. 0:03 The 3rd harmonic is weaker with lefreque. 104 dB 0:25 The 3rd harmonic is louder without lefreque. 98 dB The harmonics form 3rd to 9th are louder with lefreque compared to without , but also the dB are more, 6 dB more . I suspect that is not because of lefreque, but simply because the player played with a little more air, and the harmonics increase in loudness. I can be wrong however. Anyway, without the app, most musicians will tell no difference. I tried lefreque, and it looks like it is easier or better to play, the sensation is different, mostly the feedback. I will buy one and try to play with it a longer time to see what is going on there. For an *accurate* comparison however, one should take a robot, setting it to play a long tone without lefreque, then with absolutely no changes, put lefreque and record again. That , I want to see. There are too many variables when humans are playing, we change air pressure, posture , mouth placement and so on.

I hope wooden flutes will also have at least Low A Footjoints and Spielmannsflöten will have low A Footjoints too so they can play a wider range of repertoire.

One of these musicians actually uses her lefreque like she says. The other just agrees but you can’t find one single video of her using the lefreque. Lefreque should choose musicians that actually believe and use the product

Steven Mead, a careful test has now been published where the players were blindfolded and asked to determine if the Lefreque was on their instrument or not. None of them could do it. One of the subjects was a pro symphonic player who uses a gold Lefreque every day. His answers were no better than random guessing. With all due respect, the Lefreque is snake oil.

These are wonderful flute players! It’s a shame that they have somehow been taken in by the Lefreque fraud. The Lefreque site is full of pseudoscience, and the things Kuijt says in his videos are nonsense. 100 years of experiments show that tests like this have to be carefully blinded to avoid bias. There is no evidence that the Lefreque does anything at all.

While I do agree with the others that it sounds better without, The silver lefreQue added more of a fuller sound to me. The silver seemed to give it more of a presence, a more distinctive tone quality that stood out more while still having that mellow tone that we associate with the clarinet. Personally I prefer a warmer and more open sound myself, which is why i preferred it without, but the silver lefreQue definitely had quite the affect. Thank you for demonstrating!

I can't tell a difference in sound, and I'm a professional bassoonist. If an amateur can't tell the difference, then there isn't anything worth worrying about. Note that it's almost impossible to play the same note two times in a row at EXACTLY the same attack, dynamics, tone, and release. I'm thinking the whole deal is merely observer's bias (or the placebo effect) as far as externals go. But if you think that lucky rabbit's foot makes you play better, knock yourself out. Just don't go around trying to fool everyone else too--we have enough conspiracy theories; please don't add to the swarm of irrational thinking (which normalizes it).

Don't know the physics behind this but wondered if the added plate on the second valve slide is having such a radical positive effect on the troublesome high Db on the large bore euph, would it not be worth manufacturers developing an instrument that has thicker or heavier tubing on second valve slide to eliminate the need for that particular plate and maybe improve this note for lots of players?
