Excellent video. I have attached a RS232 to USb and connected the unknown scientific equipment ( SD-100 Verity Monochromator circa 1999 Device) No software available to drive commands to the unit. I have randomly sent commands through the Debugging software to send commands and observe the received data. The unit does not respond and not sure if its because its looking for the right command etc. I am at a lost and would like to be able to use this equipment. If anyone has an idea or actually has the software please contact me here etc. Anyone who might hav an inkling on the approach or a better idea please let me know... Thanks in advance!!!

@@TJ-spirit I would call them and you will find them SUPER SUPER SUPER helpful! They work for YOU. They are the Federal Government and I have ALWAYS found the folks in Trademarks and Patents to be SUPER HELPFUL! They do change their phone numbers and buttons you have to push but it is WORTH IT to call them.

Hi! I bought 2 devices with software which only works with the usb key. I want to read what that usb key does and try to replicate it. How to read the data which that usb key is sending to the PC?

I know it can be done but I do not know how it is done. I use the tool for much simpler stuff.. I think they probably have a key that is encrypted with some sort of clock that would make it hard to replicate... I am VERY INTERESTED to learn how this could be done...

@@MagFlowMeter This is some low tech chinese device. It can't be too complicate. I believe there is some driver to be installed or very simple chip inside which sends the code. But where to start?

@@aleksandarsocin7058 I would just spy on the USB comms and start the software and watch what happens and make a log of that. Watch out how often it queries the USB. Most Chinese made devices like that are more sophisticated than we presume. They are super smart programmers who are very good at their work. What devices is it? pM me at [email protected]

I have a UQM motor controller that uses RS232 serial port communication. I bought several RS232 to USB adators and none seem to work. How can I tell if it's the protocols or a hardware issue. The controller turns on and tries to communicate but it times out. The UQM controller is a DD45-500LW.

There is no factory reset. Let me know why you want this? The meter has a K-factor and the 4-20 calibration registers. The rest is simple configuration elements like full scale for the frequency and 4-20
