why put a finger rest under the strings ...its in my way? how many bassists do you know that play with there thumb? i cant think of many? i tend to anchor my thumb on the pick up when i,m walking with my fingers. on my musicman i rest my thumb on the edge of the pick-guard because the m/man pickup is set too far back and therefore too trebley for my liking. If i want a deeper dub - tone i'll place my thumb further forward on the edge of the neck. ........................its all horses for courses.

Hi there! Some youtubers in reviews say that J-pickup in this bass is useless and it doesn't add anything good to the sound of this model. Are you agree with that? Or the problem is in particular with the hum noise/lack of shielding or not very good J- pick up? And, say if to make shielding and buy a better J-pickup it can start to really shine ? What is your opinion? Because I've found a Gotoh PJ like this one on sale and I'm very interested in it although I'm a JB guy. But it's very difficult to find Gotoh model on second hand market so If I have a chance to buy a PJ this is also a great option.
@basstelkeller5 ай бұрын
I think the JB Pickup adds nicely to the sound. By itself the Pickup is a bit too bright for my taste, but I like the combination of P and J. It‘s very different to using both Pickups on a Jazz Bass. The Shielding is poor on this bass and a better J Pickup may sound a bit warmer…
@yurii_chynchyk5 ай бұрын
@@basstelkeller thanks for your opinion. I appreciate. I guess I will try it. It’s better to have that J pickup than not having it. I can cut the wires any time and turn it into the P-bass. But I think it’s more interesting to give it a chance and first of all to do the shielding, and later it’s always possible to change the J pickup to something better or even add the active preamp!

I’ve just had a quick look on Thomann’s website and it looks like every colour-way is out of stock for ‘several months’. Maybe getting the customer to be the quality control officer wasn’t such a good idea and sliced hands didn’t go down too well? An extra few quid/euros/dollars on the price tag to pay for problems to be sorted BEFORE they fly out the door will probably do more for their reputation. Come on Thomann.
