I tried many things, but in the end only one worked, and that was to permanently delete the files of the symbols themselves (removing the desktop ones only) using a guide literally given to me by ChatGpt. Here it is copy pasted: Open the Registry Editor: Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter. Navigate to the Overlay Icons Registry Key: Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ShellIconOverlayIdentifiers. Delete OneDrive Entries: Find the entries named "OneDrive1" to "OneDrive7". Right-click on each of these entries and select "Delete". Confirm the deletion for each entry. I was a little scared to delete things permanently, but it worked flawlessly and I had zero issues. P.S. While unrelated to this method of fixing the symbols under the desktop icons, if you ever experience any weird or small glitches with your desktop icons, you can often just right click the desktop and click the button to refresh it. If it works and the issue doesn't occur again, then that just saves you time on research.
