Thank you for being so honest. I have felt uneasy about prioritising growth especially with precise figures attached so it was good to hear a bishop express her reservations so eloquently. I hope it results in a rethink of policy and funding.

It'll help when folks at the top echelon give the ordinary clergy a break. Time off, period. Month before Advent, month before Lent, take 4 wks off turn the phone off and be out of touch with the congregation/heirarchy, in touch with your self and relationship with God, better than yet another conference or retreat. God bless you all.

Our church is the 2nd biggest in Bishop Guli's diocese, yet she has blocked us getting a new curate and given no support to help us plant a new church in Essex.

The Bible is clear and CofE doctrine is clear. Liberal Bishops want to ignore this though.

Thank you for this. We wonder over here in the US what century the CofE is in. On the other hand, we wonder at the veneration by church of those who are (at least publicly) monogamous who choose to spend the money having their relationships recognized officially. Some folks are committed life partners without all this. Christ Himself said in Heaven there will be neither marriage nor its opposite,, did He not?

It doesn't matter what century we are in when liberal bishops want to ignore scripture in favour of appeasing culture.

Is one problem of interpretation on parable is the premise that we must “understand” them at all? Couldn’t they be used to illumine a reality such as the kingdom of god that Jesus is trying to bring you into. So the appropriate response to a parable is transformation so there is no point at which you can kill the parable except for turning it into a puzzle rather than a technology of sorts?

I've watched a few messages from this guy, not in one did he even quote ONE scripture. Almost never mentions the name of Jesus. At one of the services they opened up with songs by Bob Dylan, Neil Young, etc and none were christian based. No good fruit comes from this man. And he says 'we' to describe people hundreds of years ago. Hey bro - that's not WE that's THEM. And christians were at the forefront of ending slavery no matter what some other idiots were doing. This guy's gone WOKE. And it's not woke to truth. He mentions the Nazi resurgence as white supremacy but fails to mention it's root of Jewish hatred. What a joke this guy is. I know of a pastor who got into listening to this guy and started loving 'questions' more than the bible and then finally got to the point of saying that perhaps the resurrection of Jesus didn't really happen. That's the fruit of this guy's ministry. He said he went into ministry to deal with the most important realities in the world. Got it. So nothing about getting souls saved and building up the body of Christ. He will answer for all of it.

I have just re-subscribed after a long absence; and feel as though I have "come home". In my youth I used to correspond with the late MONICA FURLONG, and have some of her books, and letters, from the days when she was one of your regular correspondents. Her little book, 'CHRISTIAN UNCERTAINTIES' was so helpful to me as a 'fledgling Christian': but it embarrassed her, as she aged, and her faith grew in stature. Thank you for introducing yourselves.

This video has brought back lovely memories of the launch of the Revised English Hymnal back in November and it was good to hear again some of the new hymns and tunes which will hopefully become familiar through the important part they will play in our church worship. Having a sampler, not only to sing from following the excellent presentation of each hymn, but also to take away to hand out to the clergy and music director of our individual churches, was most helpful. Many thanks to all who have taken part in the production of this fine new hymnal.

Also his response to the growth question seems off. The levels of growth we currently have is totally dependent on the current availability of energy and as he very clearly shows there is no way we'll have as much energy in the future. It's seems obvious that there will be less growth in the future.

Excuse my ignorance but why are we in a stage of emergency. We have about 400 parts per million of carbon currently in our atmosphere, however those levels of carbon was five times higher when the dinosaurs roamed the earth. 🤨

that's irrelevant. what matters is that our globalised industrial civilization depends on the stable climate of the Holocene interglacial. if that goes, all hell breaking loose becomes highly probable.

You are correct to state that CO2 at 0.04% of the total atmosphere is a trace gas and cannot by definition impact global temperatures. It is so often referred to as carbon because that is seen as a dirty black substance but CO2 is essential to life on Earth and even if it increases threefold is still less than 1% of the atmosphere. What we are seeing is scaremongering to make us feel guilty and change our behaviour so that some parts of the international community can benefit from the increased wealth that follows Net Zero. And who will we know when we have reached Net Zero especially if it's left to some politician? We are but grains of sand that cannot dictate the climate. Now if we decided to discuss environmental pollution that would make sense. CO2 with its life-giving properties is tasteless, odourless, heavier than air and is used in increased concentrations in greenhouses to assist plant growth. It is used to suppress fires in computer rooms and to extend the life of food products. It is not a contaminant as some suggest and we must reject all attempts to promote yet more propaganda that has inflicted so much nonsense and fear into the minds of many.

Does the beautiful message of love proclaimed by Jesus Christ still guide his followers to the path of harmony & safety? If so, why did millions of Evangelical Christians in 2016 & 2020 allow a wolf to become shepherd of the flock & to surrender the fate of American people to the mercy of the malicious?
