Thundercat has the attack and style of Stanley Clark mixed with Jaco Pastorius. he still manages to have that signature sound that let's you know that it's Ole Thunder playing that bass..what a musician

When will they ever play that Robert Bruner style jam live? The part that ends For Love I Come. It's just too amazing and I need to hear/see it live.

Beautiful just beautiful. You can hear nothing but church in his music.

butterscotchskin5 I agree. Certainly there are other influences, but church is a major influence. It's all in him.
@juejueknew12734 жыл бұрын
@dylan foley to school you he first started playing in the church and at revivals. He's been influenced by Prince mainly Roberta Flack etc. The song Higher is strictly gospel based the way he plays the keys that's exactly how people in black churches play. Get you some facts oh and he has an interview stating how he started in church that never leaves an artist. Look it up go watch some black churches in the USA. Better yet go visit a Baptist Church were D'Angelo is from in Virginia and you'll hear it.

Small church with no bass player lol..

Butterscotchskin5 his father was a bishop in the pentecostal church in Virginia. He says he started playing when he was 3. He says no one in his family knew he could play (catch his interview on Rosie O Donell).He mentioned that the church influence is who he is. Definitely a spiritual experience to be at one of his concerts. I can dig that. One of the most prolific singer/songwriters of all time.

@Nonkytonka haha he said he'd like to improve on his voice, when he records in the studio he probably records them separately, singing and playing intricate bass parts at the same time is a hard thing to do hahah

I bet Andreya silently giggled when Stephen tried to sing those high notes in falsetto. He's a pretty terrible live singer, and has admitted that himself in one interview.
