I'm a Dominican living in Santo Domingo, I am a professional aviator working for a US company but living in the DR. The cost of living is lower in the DR for sure but it can also be expensive depending on what lifestyle you chose to live. There are some expensive neighborhoods in Sto. Dgo. But you have to figure out what is it that you are looking for. If all you want is to have a good time and casual hookups, places like Sosua and Samana are perfect for that, the dating apps will provide many options. But if you are looking to meet a lady for a long term relationship and possibly even marriage. Come to Santo Domingo or Santiago, and stay away from the dating apps, only gold diggers and hookers on those. Your best option is to get a remote salary from the US (salary rates in the DR are very low) and just move here, don't even try to meet girls at the beginning. Just move here, find a group of men that have similar interests than you, go to the gim, just live here and do day to day regular stuff and socialize with these local men and just go to the places where they go to. Without even trying you will start meeting nice girls. It will come to you! You won't have to chase it.

The DR is not perfect, but what it can provide is MORE opportunities to meet women than what you will have in the U.S. You can find a gem in the DR but is rare, just like anywhere else. Women in the DR fall into two categories: 1) they want money from a man and nothing else (I.e. Sosua), and 2) they want a man who can provide financial security in a relationship.

I grew up in America, spent time in the Dominican Republic, and was raised by a Black woman in the U.S. and a Dominican father with plenty of family here and down in DR. With that perspective, here’s my take: Black women often face unfair stereotypes about beauty. Dominican women are beautiful, however so is my beautiful Black mother. So let's stop and take inventory of self love. Meanwhile, in the Dominican Republic, many women view foreigners as financial opportunities. The culture, especially around beach life, is amazing, but in parts of Santo Domingo, you can’t walk down the street with your phone without risking theft. While living costs are lower compared to the U.S., post-COVID price hikes are noticeable. Culturally, financial support from men is often expected in traditional Dominican relationships. From my experience, as a Dominican raised in New York, I prefer dating Dominican women here. There’s no need to return to the DR to meet someone. For those curious about pursuing a Dominican woman, I recommend heading to Washington Heights in Manhattan. There, you’ll meet women who don’t need your money and will give you a better sense of what courting a Dominican woman truly entails. And trust me, fellas-dating a Dominican woman in America will chin-check you into reality real quick. But down in the DR? Most women (99% of the time) are after foreigners for financial stability. But don't take it personally because even Dominican men have to support the women financially as well. It's the culture.

I like DR, however a lot of youtubers are hyping it up to much , DR has serious issues even with the women, I think we should have a balance approach to this country among the others, the corruption is rampant in DR, subpar medical care, education, social services, infrastructure, law enforcement, weak justice system, major drug transhipment route, the large amount of criminal network organizations, money laundering, crime , vehicle accidents with unsafe vehicles along with drunk driving with fatalities, human sex trafficking, the entire lack of integrity towards their own people etc.....Some you dudes do not think about how they able to afford all these stuff without doing something out of the norm to attain it, especially in DR the average salary for non skilled workers are like 200 to 400 USD per month... Teachers and nurses make like 500 to 800 per month....... police makes like 500 per month.... so for most DR jobs people are not making 5k to 10k USD per month to do what they doing, how are they getting earning their money.... Dominican do not believe in rules and regulations.. they are natural hustlers get it by any means necessary even if they got to fake it..... that is why DR women play gringos like violins.... The women are ok, but let face they see us gringos as a walking ATMs, yes, some of you all can say you found the one that is great however she is in the minority... if you see some one with money in DR question how they earn it, more often than not is thru illegal means......pretending like they got a small business or a job......anyway stop over hyping DR, it has its good and is bad, but more bad though from my perspective....I still go there to have fun with the gals but I know DRs dark colors..... even some Dominicans do not want to live there anymore just only to visit....
