Neither a mana dork nor even a playable casual EDH card. 50% of your games you draw command tower first. So I never want to see this card in half my games, great. I don't even ramp, it's "sometimes draw command tower". Except I can cast any of a million 3 mana ramp spells that can get me two different colors, so why do I need the color fixing from command tower? Reach deathstrike... is okay in the right deck. But it's outclassed immediately by Poison Dart Frog, Nightshade Dryad, which are mana dorks as well (which is so unbelievably better). Yet those cards don't see much of any play, which should point to how bad this card is.

Not ramp, not a mana dork, adding a land to hand isnt ramping, ramping implies getting more mana then the standard 1 land play per turn and that land taps for 1 mana

Tender Wildguide is top tier now imo.

The reason mana dorks are good is because they provide additional mana on top of your land drop per turn, accelerating your gameplan. Tower Winder is a fine card but serves a completely different purpose than Delighted Halfling, Birds of Paradise, etc.

Comparing this to a mana dork isn't correct. Mana dorks accelerate your mana curve. This doesn't do that. It's technically card advantage in the form of a tutor for a garunteed land drop, while also giving a good defensive body that synergizes with some other strats. It's apples and oranges. Tower Winder is a decent card in many circumstances tho. It can tutor for mana fixing, the deathtouch synergizes with cards like Fynn and Toski, and it does make you hard to attack. But you shouldn't consider it as part of your decks ramp. I wouldn't say its better or worse than a two mana dork, because the function is different. But you shouldn't cut mana dorks for this card.

It’s a fetch spell, not a mana dork. A mana dork puts you ahead of your curve. This makes sure you hit your curve. Unless you are playing multiple lands a turn a land to hand just make sure your on curve.

I like the card but technically it’s not a ramp cart because doesn’t get u more mana, just makes sure u plays commands tower as ur land the next turn

Untapping with three mana on turn 2 or having a 1/1 death toucher and three lands in play on turn 3, one of these is ramping and one is playing a two mana 1/1. Three mana on turn 2 opens up the possibility for untapping with 5+ mana on turn 3 and running away with the game after slamming a threat like Nissa or Garruk while continuing to expand your board state.
