How different would this be for an automatic transmission and reinstalling a torque tube that’s been taken off? Just bought an automatic 1986 944 with the transaxle disassembled

Thanks for the video, as it made for a two hour do it yourself job that actually worked. The most difficult part was the screw on the right side that held the two cover pieces to the wiper control, because the Germans require a straight screw direction, but placed the cruise control lever just in the way.

Nice job, just one tip that for the wrinkles that exist using a heat gun on those will defiantly help tighten it up. Keep the gun moving though so you don’t damage your seat.

@@DrDIYporsche I did as I said and it was OK. Just a bit hard to remove the plug - which I tightened myself years ago. I never tighten bolts etc hard. I think in general people over tighten things. So I was surprised
@fabiopunk16612 жыл бұрын
Nice. Thanks. As to the seals used on the plugs, it is better to replace them I know. However, do you see a risk of leakage if these are reused?

@@DrDIYporsche it seems to be OK, the seal was in good shape. I do enjoy tremendously driving this car, it's beautiful and easy to drive too. Not to mention the looks. BTW I saw the move "Spencer" on lady D and it seems she had my exact car (well, hers was convertible, mine is not)

First off, thanks. Like a lot. I own my own shop and have been working on cars for over 30 years. Pretty much everything Porsches. I had to replace the flex plate damper for a 1983 automatic. Of course Alldata says remove rear suspension. And that's about it. I was sweating doing the job and trying to work a way around removing it. Your video saved me hours. Most people convert to a clutch but this vehicle is for an older couple and they wanted to stick with an automatic. Of course there are no videos start to finish for flex plate damper replacement for an auto that I could find but with your videos, the job wasn't that bad. Of course I have the luxury of a lift and a shop and yada yada. Anyways, thanks tons. I did write down step by step the whole process from start to finish with some pictures if anyone needs that. Thanks again. Well done sir : )

Well done. I like that you have complete instructions and stills of the key steps. More KZbin DIY videos would benefit from using your delivery approach.Too many try too make the DIY an entertainment. You make it like a hobbyist showing a friend what to do and why. I like the instructions to NOT use the steering lock, the discussion of little subtopics like the spring washer, the scribing alignment mark, the use of the 27 mm impact, the work around of removing the light switch and the 36 ft lb torque for the replacement of the steering wheel. Clear, straightforward and very understandable. . Very "real world". Thank you for taking the time to share!

Awesome video! This helped me a lot. The hardest part of the job was actually getting the new snap ring installed. It seems like the supplied snap ring is simply too small for the tube which makes installation tricky (and dangerous). You can go to NAPA and they will give you one that is slightly larger (the guy working there agreed the one supplied looked a bit small). Also, I found that the rectangular tip of a large metal file worked easier (and faster) than a screwdriver tip to push the tubes outward. Just thought I would share!
