I made this and it works. I just didn't do it the way he says. I used one tablespoon in the morning and night for a while. It does work. (WARNING the taste is AWEFUL! There is no fixing it! I tried everything, and gave up.)

This is great. I was just looking at some filters at a nationwide outdoor retailer. They talk about prefiltering water to extend the life of their filters, but don't sell prefilters or explain ways to do it. Then I find your video. Thanks much, Chris.

No it wasn’t missed. Arrogant people with smart comments usually don’t watch the entire video and miss the details. The entire video is based off a hand warmer. The hand warmer is iron dust. Thanks for the comment!

I’m a kayak camper in Florida and I never bother to bring fire wood on any of my trips because I know those cypress trees and how to buck it all down for a good hot fire. It’s wood burns down into really nice hot coals, it was recently 42° overnight on the fish eating creek and we buried our coals overnight and started them right back up in the morning no problem👍🏼

It helps to wrap the lower straps once or twice around the trunk of the tree otherwise they loosen when they stretch or with movement, also the rain fly has tie off points in six place that connect it to the poles to helps to keep everything tight, only problem with these are that the feel a little flimsy, I attached c-clips there to mine as it makes setting up and down 100 times easier Good vid though mate !!

So I have never tried this before and I have never seen anyone talk about the pile of steel wool after it has been used. Is it toast or will it take another current? Something I may have to look into.

One thing I hate about living in Kansas......dang near no pine trees. I either buy my fatwood online or make my own fake fatwood. They work....but nothing beats real fatwood.

You should've mentioned that using thin rope like that will hurt the trees. Solution to that would be using proper tree straps or at least putting some twigs and pieces of bark in between your string and tree.

@@SpeirOutdoorsThis is helpful to know it's still holding up. Regarding the plastic bag and mixing the Napa and silicone, I feel like it would be easier if you just put it all into the 5 gallon bucket, then just use a drill with a metal paint mixer to agitate the mixture until ready. Seems like less of a hassle.

It’s the portability and weight not the waterproof. It’s making an ultra lightweight tarp from common products for cheaper than buying a comparable tarp

As I further research… I’m thinking the metal water bottle (which I have) is over rated. I can do more tasks in my GSI glacier pot with a lid. Use a pot lifter to remove from fire. If u get something in a bottle, it can’t be cleaned out. I could be wrong, still researching. 😁👍👍🇺🇸
